This week I am listing "Watchful Eyes" at my promotional rate as a print and ACEO. The original surreal lowbrow goddess painting is available for purchase on my website!  Athena (also known to the Romans as Minerva) is the Greek goddess of wisdom and is part of my goddess series.  I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints on ebay here with a theme of myths and fairytales.

Angel Fairy Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...

Here is a work in progress view of my 11"x14" original big eye angel fairy painting.  I'm reworking the clouds.  I painted over the ones I had before and started again.  Beyond the base, I haven't done anything yet in the lower right corner (although my hand was a bit messy and left some marks that I will cover up when I paint the clouds there) and in the lower left corner the paint is a bit thick, I'm going to sand it down a little bit before I possibly try to make them a little fluffier.  I think the upper section is close to how I want it, but I won't decide if I'm done with that section until I see how it all works together when I'm further along with the bottom sections.  Once the sky looks right, I'll begin work on her wings...

My Photograph of a Hiding Bunny Rabbit at Descanso Gardens...

I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens some time ago.  Here is a hiding bunny rabbit.  I think he felt quite safe in the underbrush, although he wasn't keen to have been found, he waited for a while before scampering off...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I am listing "Ode to Spring," an original painting of a brown bunny rabbit taking time to smell the flowers.  I love bunnies and spring so much, I was singing a happy little bunny song as I was painting this...  I think he'd be wonderful for spring and Easter decor or just any time of the year!

I'm also listing my original white winter bunny painting here, it's not quite spring where this little cutey is, but he's one of my favorites.

Sweet Big Eye Fairy Angel Sketch...

Here is a rough sketch of a big eye fairy angel.  I think she has a sweet quality.  I'm not sure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.  I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival yesterday at Descanso Gardens and took part of a tour (I was photographing some flowers and lost the group at some point...), it was very informative (well, up until the time I lost the group, but they were really pretty flowers...).  Today though I get to work on Operation Cute and Fluffy and hopefully also the angel fairy I am working on, I think I found some clouds to use as reference that will work for her.

My Photograph of a Butterfly on a Flower at Descanso Gardens...

I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens some time ago.  I love butterflies, I followed this one around as it flit from flower to flower...  This was one of my favorite shots, I might like to paint it some day.  I find capturing a butterfly on camera can be quite a challenge.  I'm so glad that with digital cameras I can take as many shots as I'd like without worrying about the blurry ones!  I'm going to Descanso Gardens tomorrow with a friend, I'll have to try to be a bit more reserved about picture taking than I usually am so that she has a better opportunity to enjoy the gardens...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Bunny Rabbit Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP Continues...

Here is a work in progress view of my little 5"x7" original bunny rabbit painting.  At this stage in the WIP I've painted part of the bunny, his face and ears are pretty much done, but I'm still working on his body.  He looks a bit like he's wearing a brown bag in the parts I haven't finessed yet!  This painting is on panel, and working with the fur is going well, but for some reason it doesn't take the paint really well straight away, so I have to apply a base coat first almost everywhere.  I probably won't be finishing this for this Tuesday, but if not hopefully I will for next Tuesday...

Spring is definitely inspiring me for this piece!

Big Eye Fairy Angel Elf Sketch...

Here is a sketch of a big eye fairy angel elf.  I think she has a friendly and mischievous quality.  I'm not sure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.  We're having a bit of a heat wave (90s), it seems early to me, but I'm hoping it will pass...

Bunny Rabbit Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...

Here is a work in progress view of my little 5"x7" original bunny painting.  At this stage in the WIP I've painted the deep background and the background grass.  Next up is the bunny, then some of the flowers, then the foreground grass and possibly some foreground flowers, so still quite a ways to go on this...

Thanks for the encouraging words on my cloud study for my angel fairy, they are much appreciated!  Yesterday I went to Huntington Gardens and spent some time looking at clouds in some of the landscapes upstairs in the Huntington Gallery, definitely a wide range of approaches to the clouds...

Cloud Study Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...

So, I disliked the clouds so much for my angel fairy painting that I painted over them completely with the background sky colors.  I've taken a little 5x7 panel here and worked on some more clouds as a study to see if I can get them right before I paint them on the larger panel with my angel fairy.  These are lighter and fluffier and definitely an improvement, but still not good enough...  I think I need to find some better reference and try again.  I'm not sure if I should paint over these and try to improve them or if I should start from scratch on another panel; decisions, decisions...

I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens on my most recent visit.  It's tulip season there!  Tulip season lasts just a short while, so if you are in the area and love tulips, I suggest a visit.  They have such amazing flowers, these ones are big and full and pink and peach and vibrant orange...  They have so many beautiful flowers, I could paint tulips every day for a very long time and not make a dent into my stash of tulip photographs that I've taken since I've been a member; but they are so gorgeous, I can not resist photographing them...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Angel Fairy Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...

I've started this work in progress of a big eye angel fairy. At this stage in the WIP, I still need to do some more work on the clouds in the background before I move on to her wings.  The line art is a bit faint, so I think she'll come to life more as I progress.

"Drowning" is a self portrait.  It was painted at a difficult time in my life.  I feel very grateful for my life right now.  I hope that if you are having a difficult time, there will come a corner to pass where the place you are in improves.  I think that even in the darkest times, hope is important.  This piece has a lowbrow surreal impressionist feel.  The original is not for sale, but I do have it available as prints and ACEOs!

Bunny Rabbit with Flowers Sketch...

Here is a sketch for a painting I'm working on.  It's a bunny rabbit with some flowers.  I love bunnies!  I wanted to do speed drills every other month, but I don't think I'm up to it.  We'll see...  I know that while I'm trying to work faster, I also have to give each painting all of the time that it needs...

I took this photograph at Descanso Gardens at the pond near the front some time ago.  These two mallard ducks didn't stray too far from one another while I was watching.  The male usually followed the female pretty closely, I thought they were so sweet together.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!
