I took this photograph of this pink saucer magnolia at Huntington Gardens during my most recent visit.  There was a tree with many blooms close to the ground, I was able to photograph from above.  Solo or with one of my maidens, this flower is very tempting for me to paint.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is inspired by the fairytale little red riding hood.  She is the first of three variations that I will sketch.  When I have completed them, I will decide which one I like the best and move forward towards refining the sketch to paint.

"The Rainbow Gang" Installation at the Corey Helford Gallery

Closed Show

I found this art installation absolutely adorable.  "Here Comes Sunshine" is the debut U.S. Installation of artist Pip & Pop.  I was at the Corey Helford Gallery to see another show, but found the installation as well as the available pieces of "The Rainbow Gang" utterly charming.  They also had a video of Australian artist Tanya Schultz discussing and creating some of her fascinating works.  With sugar and assorted materials, she aims to create an earthly utopia.

This is part II of II of the Pip & Pop art focused on the "The Rainbow Gang."  They were so cute, I really wanted to take one home with me!  The show is closed, but the gallery may have some of the pieces available.

Whilst I have continued to sketch daily, I spent my time getting this ready and haven't had a chance to prep my sketches yet.  I'll try to get caught up on posting my daily sketches on Friday.

WIP Peacock Bird Art Original Painting Work in Progress + Sketch of a Chow Chow Puppy Dog/ February 23 / Art Sketches Daily...

In this original acrylic painting of a peacock, I've started blocking in the stems of the feathers.  I put it aside for a while to work on some other deadlines, but I have resumed painting my feathery friend...  I had planned on laying in gold leaf, the type that comes in pages, but instead I think I will use a paint.  It isn't acrylic though, so it will likely be the last part of the feathers that I do.  The canvas that I'm painting on is 11"x14"

Here is a sketch of a chow chow puppy dog.  I like to paint an animal in honor of Chinese New Year annually, this year it's year of the dog.  I'm intending to paint this puppy, the sketch isn't quite right yet, but it's getting there...

Here are my two framed pieces "Orchid Intrigue" and "Moonrise" from the Diversity and Inclusion: The Influence of African-American Art in Southern California Exhibit at the Ontario Museum of Art as well as some of my favorites from the show.  These are only a small sampling of the art that was there, there were many rooms filled to the brim with some impressive and inspiring art.  The show will run until Sunday February 25th 2018.

I took some photographs of the moonrise on January 31st.  I wasn't expecting any of my photos of the super blue blood moon lunar eclipse to come out, so I didn't check them until recently.  To my surprise a few of them did come out, this one was my favorite.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

This week my featured painting is "Aphrodite."  I thought she'd be perfect for (almost) Valentine's Day.  She has big blue green teal eyes and blonde hair with purple streaks.  Aphrodite (also known to the Romans as Venus) is the Greek goddess of love and is part of my goddess series.  I think love is so very important.  The original big eye surreal lowbrow fantasy goddess painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!
