Mermaid by a Cathedral Original Painting Work in Progress...
Here is a work in progress image of my mermaid by a cathedral. I resolved some of my issues from the sketch, which is a few posts down; but in putting this up I see something else that needs fixing. For some reason when I look at an image on the monitor, I sometimes catch things that I don't see when I have it up on the easel or in my sketch book...
I finished the oak tree painting I was working on last week for Nibblefest, it's on ebay here and it's also a few posts down if you'd like to take a look.
I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday. To see more participants, please visit:

Thanks for visiting! I'm unable to comment on google+ sites that don't have the blog links, but I do visit. For some reason, even though I've said no to word verification, it still shows here. If you're logged in to Google or OpenID, you should still be able to post by clicking enter without filling in the word verification. I'm sorry about the glitch...
Wonderful WIP!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative juxtaposition of a mermaid and catherdral!

ReplyDeleteI think it's looking great Lisa! I understand about seeing things on the monitor and not when you are looking at the painting. Many of times, when I take a picture of my art and look at it for the first time on the computer, I go back and change things! LOL! ;o) Take Care ;o)
ReplyDeleteLove seeing works in progress. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood beginning, Lisa. I know what you mean about how different things look up on the screen. Strange, huh?
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see where you go with this one! it's funny how looking at your art on the computer gives you fresh eyes. It happens to me all the time!

ReplyDeleteGreat WIP, interesting to see it developing! <3
ReplyDeletethe cathedral must be by the sea? great concept, and looking forward to the finished piece. happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteA mermaid and a cathedral - that is interesting! I imagine the cathedral being flooded many centuries ago and covered with mossy things...
ReplyDeleteQuite an interesting and mysterious beginning, I look forward to seeing the progress on this painting.
ReplyDeleteVery true about looking at your art work on the monitor, many times it 's caught mistakes I've missed while working on the art piece. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much for your kind words and input on my mermaid painting! I want the cathedral ruins to be underwater, so maybe I'll add a fish or two. Maybe not, I'm not sure where I'll put them, but I'll think about it.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so elegant already so I can't wait to see what she looks like when she's done. And I love the concept of a mermaid cathedral.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sabina!
