Here is where I am on my original 8"x10" chow chow dog painting. I have been working on her fur in this work in progress. Due to how quicky acrylics dry, I work wet into wet, section by section. As I continue on this wip, I'll add some subtle details later, this is the blocking in stage. I love animals and I find them a joy to paint...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She has a bit of a mischievous look. I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be mermaid or goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
She is face 4 for 29 faces in September. The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.
Both pieces are lovely. The chow chow is coming along really well. Happy PPF, Hugs, Valerie

cute chow chow in progress! And a pretty maiden!
ReplyDeleteNice start to the dog :) Have you ever tried using mediums with acrylics to help with the drying?
ReplyDeleteI love both pieces. It will be fun to see what the first turns out like, and I love your maiden's big eyes.
ReplyDeleteWow that chow nose looks so real. I love his expression.

Oh, I love that fur, I can feel the softness!
ReplyDeleteThanks so very very much! Jennifer, I've bought some slow dry mediums, but I've yet to give them a try, they seem to need a very delicate ratio...
ReplyDeleteit really depends a lot of the quality of the acrylics you are using. might need more medium with cheaper acrylics
ReplyDeleteI use golden or liquitex artist grade, but I've read the instructions and if you add too much it alters the composition of the paints... It's something I may play with eventually, but right now working in small sections works for me.
ReplyDeleteFabulous Chow wip.. the fur is excellent! Very well done and great face too!!
