Gold Leaf Practice for What I am Unsure of Yet...
When the lovely and talented Rose Adare came to visit, she taught me some tips about using gold leaf. This is a practice canvas where I can test ideas. I want to come up with a painting idea to use it for soon, so that I can practice the technique some more while the lesson is still fresh in my head, but I haven't come up with a concept I think it would work with yet. I'm thinking though...
Rose uses gold leafing to beautiful effect in many of her art pieces, to see her art please visit her webpage here and her facebook page here.

Thanks for visiting! I'm unable to comment on google+ sites that don't have the blog links, but I do visit. For some reason, even though I've said no to word verification, it still shows here. If you're logged in to Google or OpenID, you should still be able to post by clicking enter without filling in the word verification. I'm sorry about the glitch...
I have a love hate relationship with gold leaf. love the look, hate how hard it can be to actually use :p seems to break sometimes with the slightest touch
ReplyDeleteGold Leaf can be so beautiful as accents etc. but my hubby has more luck with it than I when he restores frames and things:) Thanks for sharing Rose's links and hope you'll share more of your gold leaf experimentation. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteThis is an art to use I'm sure, so delicate.
ReplyDeleteI love using it as accents, but it's sometimes hard to handle! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer, Linda, Christine, and Valerie! It's definitely delicate, I'm not sure how I'll use it, I just think I'd like to try...
ReplyDeleteI haven't used gold leaf on any paintings before, but I ave used it on polymer clay. Are you going to use your experiments later for any big pieces, even if you have to cut it apart?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, I'm thinking it's most likely that I will try techniques over it that I will be using on other pieces...
ReplyDeleteI love using gold and marble gold leaf on my paintings. I know you will come up with some beautiful piece. My good friend and artist also uses gold leaf. http://www.artistswork.com/
