Art Sketch of a Gothic Graveyard, Potential Wednesday Background, March 13 Daily Sketch...

Here is a sketch of a Gothic graveyard.  There are some toombstones, but the tree is also a powerful force.  This is one of three potential backgrounds I'm sketching for my Wednesday Addams painting.  I started off with about 20 options, narrowed it down to 6, then tried them in photoshop with the sketch of Wednesday.  This is one of the three I liked the best, I'll be sketching the other two to see which one is the one to go with...

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in March.  This is day 13.

This is a rough sketch.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I am also participating in Sunday Sketches.  To view more Sunday Sketches, please visit:

  2. This reminds me of an old classical crime novel. Would love to know the story about what's going on there!

  5. I will be curious to see which one you decide to go with and would love if you posted the other for us to see. This one really does look like an OLD cemetery and the tree is wonderful. Since I am a real newbie to all of this I am real curious to know why you used Photoshop at one point in your decision making. Genie

  8. Thanks so very, very much! Today I'm posting the second option, I haven't sketched the third one yet (that's tonight's sketch). I used photoshop to narrow it down a bit, I was having trouble deciding, but combining the options with my sketch of Wednesday in photoshop helped me to pick the ones I felt were the strongest...

  9. The tree definitely has a powerful presence. Your sketch reminds me of a local graveyard where I like to sit and pause and remember my loved ones who have passed.

Thanks for visiting! I'm unable to comment on google+ sites that don't have the blog links, but I do visit. For some reason, even though I've said no to word verification, it still shows here. If you're logged in to Google or OpenID, you should still be able to post by clicking enter without filling in the word verification. I'm sorry about the glitch...
