I took this photograph of these cherry blossom flowers at Schabarum Park last year. It was at the very end of their blooming season. I am hopeful of seeing them again there this year, they were so lovely. I hope that you will enjoy this photo!
I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.
Here is a sketch of a potential wing for one of my big eyed gothic maidens. I want it to have a steampunk feel with a mixture of organic and metal elements. I like this, but I'm not sure if this is quite it though, I may need to play around with it more. I've only sketched one of the wings as when I'm happy with it, I'll be able to flip it in photoshop and play around with it there as well. In some cases my technique involves using a combination of tools, traditional and digital, to do what I hope is my strongest art...
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in March. This is day 9.
This is a rough sketch.
I am with you. Here in SF we make a big deal of a good cherry blossom bloom.
ReplyDeleteLovely cherry blossoms and a beautiful wing sketch!
ReplyDeleteneat looking wings :D I do the same when needing 2 sides of something, draw one half and put it together in photoshop, much easier and makes things even
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Martin, Christine, and Jennifer! Alex sometimes calls it better living through advanced technology...
