Sketch of a Big Eye Gothic Fairy DDLM DOTD makeup options, August 21, Art Sketches Daily...

Here are some sketches of a big eyed gothic maiden.  They are of some make up options for my next Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead painting.  She will also have butterflies, but I'd like to finalize the makeup before I add in the monarchs.  I think she is most likely a fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in August.  This is day 21.

This are rough sketches.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I am also participating in Sunday Sketches.  To view more Sunday Sketches, please visit:

  3. My eyes are so crummy I thought the three were alike, but whenI enlarged them I found many many differences. I finally have a picture in my mind of a gothic fairy with big eyes Cant wait to see them finished. Have a nice week. Genie

  8. Thanks very much Martin, Jennifer, and Serena. I'm going to have the color scheme complement the butterflies, but I haven't decided yet entirely.
