In this original 4"x6" work in progress WIP painting of a rose, I've painted the stem and leaves around the base of the rose. I'll next do the petals of the rose itself and then possibly try to glaze some shadows in. So far I've been able to breathe while using the water soluble oils, but I haven't used them for any long duration, so we'll see. I'm tentatively optimistic, so far I am enjoying painting with the oils, but I'm not so sure about the wood...
This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit! You also may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.
I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday. To see more participants, please visit:
Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She stares sideways at what I am not sure of... I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in August. This is day 12.
This is a rough sketch.
Your rose is beautiful! Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

careful with your breathing, you don't want to get as bad as me where paint (most art supplies that are not pencils) in the hall can mess with my lungs. you flower is looking good tho :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much for the kind words! I'll definitely be careful with my breathing, it was pretty bad the last time I tried to use oils, but so far so good...

Is there a connection?
I like that you finished your big eyes gothic maiden. She is a beauty. I would not know whether to paint her or not. That one is up for grabs. I have tried many time to paint a rose, but failed. Yours is so dainty and pretty. I can almost smell it thru the computer screen. genie
ReplyDeletePerhaps, thank you Martin. Thanks so much genie, roses definitely have a complexity...
ReplyDeleteYour rose and maiden are starting out beautifully...but I especially love the lamb as a special feature on your side bar! So nice to see the finished work with one click of the mouse!! The Lamb is gorgeous!

I love seeing your progression of work. Everyone has their own system. I know this rose will be beautiful once finished. Again the amount of art you are able to do each is so impressive.
