My Photograph of a Purple Iris Flower at Huntington Gardens + September Sketches Art, Day 7 Sketch, Big Eye Goddess...

I took this photograph of this purple iris at Huntington Gardens.  I thought the hues in these flowers were amazing.  I think I'm going to sketch this one and hopefully paint it, the beauty in it is calling me greatly.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  Big hair with flowers seems to be my focus right now, I think I have one more reference image to sketch with very large hair for tomorrow, then I think the hair will be smaller for a while...  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a mermaid or a fairy angel.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September.  This is day 7.   She is also face 7 for the 29 faces challenge in September.

This is a rough sketch.

  4. very pretty flower photo :)

nothing wrong with drawing big hair, you need big hair to hold flowers, and keeps hat from falling off :)
