I took this photograph of this turtle at Descanso Gardens. He was stretching and seemed to be posing, he held this pose for the entire time that I sat by the pond. I hope that you will enjoy this photo!
I love to paint animals, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.
Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She has a veil atop her head and is glancing backwards... I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is day 14. She is also face 14 for the 29 faces challenge in September.
This is a rough sketch.
That turtle is great, I had to try to hold poses like that when I was doing my rehab gymnastic, but I think I was not as good as the turtle....Lovely sketch, too. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletecute turtle photo! You do the veils so well on your maidens!
ReplyDeleteAwwww that turtle is so cute! I was just listening to a podcast about West African fairy tales and several are of a Turtle/Trickster. It's hard to imagine such a cute, gentle creature being the center of trickster myth but, perhaps that is their very best disguise. : )
ReplyDeleteI REALLY love that sketch. It has a lovely animated quality to it that makes it truly seem alive already! Beautiful!!
Great photo. I can't wait to see what you paint of him. The maiden is looking back, is she trying to get away? LOL Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTurtles have an unique way of sunbathing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much Valerie-Jael, Christine, Nicolas, Nicole, and Haddock! I'm not sure if I will be painting this turtle, although he definitely held his pose for quite some time...
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. No picture compares to her. She's that beautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Martin, I would like to be a faster painter, so that I may paint more of the beauty that I see, but alas, not yet...
ReplyDeleteI love the turtle! So cute and your sketch is truly beautiful! WOW!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks very much Stacy!
