My Photograph of a Dahlia Flower at Descanso Gardens + June Sketches Art, Day 21 Sketch, Big Eye Angel Fairy... Happy Summer Solstice!

Happy Summer Solstice!

Edit: Magyar created this beautiful poem:
dahlias tempt
hummingbirds with their color
wingwinds

I took this photograph of this flower at Descanso Gardens.  I believe it is a dahlia summer annual.  I photographed it on one of my summer visits, so I thought it would be perfect for today.  I love how it is both white and yellow.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

===================================================

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She is looking with great interest at something and has roses and a summer bonnet hat upon her head.  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a goddess or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her...

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in June.  This is day 21.

This is a rough sketch.

  5. As beautiful as that flower is, it can't compete with that fascinating hairstyle.
