In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of an idealized big eye version of myself, I've completed the roses. I have highlights and hair wispies yet to go. I think this is the mermaid version of me... I was saving the highlights in the eyes until last, but I think they come next, in case some of the wispies go over the eyes.
This idealized big eyed self portrait is on a 16"x20" canvas in acrylics.
This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit! You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She has a wary expression... I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February. This is from day 1.
This is a rough sketch.
Here is a sketch of a chow chow puppy dog. It has a ways to go before the lineart is right, but it's a start. I like to paint an animal in honor of Chinese New Year annually, this year it's year of the dog. I'm intending to paint this puppy, but I want to see if I can get the sketch right first...
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February. This is day 2.
This is a rough sketch.
The portrait gets better and better, it's great to see the progress. Lovely sketches, too. Hugs, Valerie

ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen your earlier post Lisa, but on looking at your big eyed portrait and your profile photo on the same page I thought to myself that you may be using yourself as the subject... yes! reading further down your post that was exactly what you were doing. She's so lovely and your work is always delightful. Now I must go and see the beginnings of her.
