WIP Chow Chow Puppy Dog Art Original Painting Work in Progress + Sketch of Daylily Flowers & a Big Eye Goddess / April 5 & 6 / Art Sketches Daily...

In this original acrylic painting of a chow chow puppy dog, I'm a couple of layers in on her fur.  The colors aren't quite where I want them, but I have quite a few layers to go so there's time to adjust.  I've blocked in the eyes and the nose, but I'll detail them at some point in the future.  The panel that I'm painting on is 5"x7"

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

April 5 & 6 Sketches

Here is a sketch of some daylily flowers.  Lilies are such a joy to draw...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in April.  This is from day 5.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has flowing hair and a look of power...  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in April. This is day 6.

This is a rough sketch.

  4. Love the Chow chow puppy. When I was a girl, we had a beautiful one named Teddy. It was female and I don't know why she ended up with a masculine name. It was always so comforting to snuggle up in that marvelous fur. You are doing a great job on this painting.
