WIP Peacock Bird Art Original Painting Work in Progress + Sketch of Big Eye Goddess, Mermaid, & Nasturtium Flowers / April 11-13 / Art Sketches Daily...

In this original acrylic painting of a peacock, I've been working on the feathers.  I will be painting my feathery friend for quite some time...  This is around three layers in of the gold acrylic paint, I'll eventually do highlights with the gold leafing paint near the very end of the painting.  The canvas that I'm painting on is 11"x14"

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

April 11-13 Sketches

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a sweet expression...  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in April. This is from day 11.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of some nasturtium flowers.  I think they have a beautiful energy...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

  9. What wonderful pieces. I love peacocks, too. When I was a little girl I used to dance with a beautiful old peacock out in Grandma's field. Your sketches are amazing. Such a talented artist!

  10. I love how you wait for your characters to develop to realize their label! I always find the process interesting. How characters we manifest need to be assessed and realized for who they are! Beautiful sketches!
