I had my doubts that I would ever call this painting finished, but I'm calling it; well, for now anyway! It's an 18"x24" acrylic white magnolia flower painting on canvas entitled "Enchanting Light." To see it on my website, please visit here.
I know I skip around a lot. Some days all I want to paint is floral art, other days, it's fairies, and so on... I know it isn't technically correct, but I want to call myself an expressionist painter, because I am so emotively driven... I tend to paint what I feel and when I feel it... I know it would be better professionally to focus on one genre, but there's a whole world out there and beyond that, there's the world I imagine as well!
I know that I'm stronger at certain subjects than with others, but at this point, I can't force myself to give up any of them... Perhaps that will change at some point, but right now, I remain diversely driven...
Anyway, I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday. To see more participants, please visit:
this is a stunning piece - I love the composition! As for sticking to one genre - not at all! I mostly paint animals but the way in which I do them changes and evolves as I get inspired by different things and the silliest things can spark a painting obession in me - currently rain drops on windows! I think that's the joy of being an artist we get inspired by different things and we grow and develop as we go along!
ReplyDeleteThat´s AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Gorgeous work. Happy PPF, Annette x

ReplyDeleteStunning work! It just draws me in.
ReplyDeleteWOWers! This is an incredible piece! I do get being emotionally driven in painting - totally rings true here as well:-) Thank you for your kind comment at ppf.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'm from Mississippi where the magnolia is the state flower - love them. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely divine work ~ well done ~ beautiful ~~ thanks, ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. Congratulations on finishing your piece. You sound so much like me - jumping around and doing what inspires you at the moment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, it's luminous and fascinating!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, stunning! I think you should always paint what you feel and it should always be from your heart! I know I paint crows, but all of my ideas with my crows, come from what I feel. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWonderful and exquisite work of art. Very beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing- I know just how difficult it is to paint white flowers and you have done a stunning job with your magnolia.....I think we may be related....at least as artists! I too love painting flowers and fluctuate between series of close up flowers with more whimsical pieces. I love being able to go back and forth between both styles because it gives me so much creative freedom!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF,
Stephanie
P.S. I am your newest follower!
Hola, es preciosa tu pintura. Yo tampoco me acabo de centrar en un género, tal vez el paisaje, pero no del todo, me gusta hacer otras cosas y experimentar con soportes y medios.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo

This is AMAZING. I jump around, too--not so much in subject, but in medium. I quilt, knit, zentangle, sketch, paint, and collage. Seems like it keeps things fresh, and I grow in between--
ReplyDeleteLove this painting!
oooh, it's perfect! <3
ReplyDeleteAww, you are all so super sweet! Thanks so much and muchas gracias!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to read everyone's input on my variable inclinations and I appreciate the feedback... I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this!
Stacy, I think your crows are fabulous, I think we all follow our hearts in our own way.
I think that the best thing a painter can do is to follow her heart, and this stunning painting is a true confirmation of this, absolutely gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteI love your story, I too, do not stay in my box either. This is a beautiful flower and your feelings are reflected in it. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteI don't think you should give any of them up! I am wowed by your painting. It jumps off the page and I can almost feel the pedals. Mom used to put one blossom in a bowl of water on the table since we had a magnolia tree out front. It was beautiful.

Thanks so very, very much.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I think it's a wonderful idea to have a blossom in a bowl on the table. I like to bring what's beautiful outside inside as well sometimes.
I adore magnolia flowers. Beautiful painting! Don't dare give up a subject you want to paint just because you're better at others.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristin and everyone for encouraging me to continue painting what I feel. When I go to galleries, what I see is work that is similar in subject matter and feel by artists, but I'm relatively diverse by comparison. I think though what it means is it will just take me more time to get a body of work together in any one group, which I think is okay! Again, thanks so much...
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous! Your talent really shines forth in the painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Connie!
