Claude Monet - Nympheas
I love Impressionist art. I find myself at a loss for words to explain why it moves me so, but it does. There is such a delicacy to the colors, yet so much movement in the application.
Claude Monet - In the Woods at Giverny: Blanche Hoschede at Her Easel with Suzanne Hoschede Reading.
Monet's water lilies are not only some of my favorite Impressionist art, they are some of my favorite art that I have ever seen. It just fills me with joy. There is a simplicity to the forms, but the result of that simplicity is pure genious.
Pierre-Auguste Renoir - Two Girls Reading (Jeunes filles lisant)
I can lose myself in these pieces, feeling like I am a part of the moment.

I have always felt a bit awkward about pulling my camera out. These days, I try to battle past my awkwardness. I want my experience of the art to be one with the moment while I am there, but still be able to experience the art when I am not there.
Paul Gauguin - Fruit Dish on a Garden Chair.
These images predate my resolve to try to be more comfortable taking photographs, but as awkward as I felt, I was compelled to take these shots... I hope that you will enjoy them.

Delicious. Impressionism was a movement that struck me in my first contact with art. A fundamental shift in the history of painting.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about just pulling out the camera.....we'll get over it bit by bit......Your favorite artist and paintings are also mine....thanx for pics
ReplyDeleteoooh, these were my favorite painters when I was a kid (I still love them)! I think my grandma was guilty of influencing my taste in art so soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing these paintings. In the woods is my fav. Thanks for visiting my blog. I am now a new follower!
ReplyDeleteMonet has been my favorite since I was a teenager...and believe me that was a long time ago :0) I've seen two of his exhibits and would go again in a heat beat!!!
ReplyDeleteI went to the LACMA to see the Tim Burton exhibit, and was so impressed with the whole place. I made my husband promise we'd go back again (I don't like LA driving :)
ReplyDeleteIt is always a pleasure to see the art of the great masters, and you are right, there is something moving about the way they painted. This is definitely my era , too !
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art! Some of my favorite painters ;o)
ReplyDeleteI think my grandfather also heavily influenced my favorite artists as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Impressionists were major innovators and I think their art will always be dear to me.
I saw the Tim Burton exhibit too and loved it, in that case I had to struggle not to whip out my camera, it was definitely no pics allowed and I dearly wanted to snap a few! I did take a couple outside (that was allowed), but I don't think they were very good pictures... L.A. driving definitely is not the best, but I love LACMA too!
Anyway, thank you all. I think I'm starting to enjoy photography, but taking the camera out still makes me feel a little self conscious. I very much love that you're enjoying these shots.
