Original Purple Clematis Flower Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! September Sketches...

"Clematis" Original 7"x5" Painting on Panel Here

This week my featured painting is "Clematis."  This purple flower was inspired by a photo by Shawn Parker Photography.   The art has a realist impressionist feel.  The original floral painting has some texture in the background and is available on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme includes some of my maidens with big blue eyes, you may see them here.

I am linking this post with Inspire Me Monday

Edit 9/28: I've ran out of time to do a separate post for PPF today, so I am sharing this completed painting.
I may not be able to do a separate post on Friday as that is the drop off day for the Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead paintings that I have been working on, so I may link to this post for Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

September 22-25 Sketches

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a gaze of compassion.  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is from day 22.

Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead Big Eye Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP + Sketches of Big Eye Angels Fairies Maidens & Flowers / September 15-21 / Art Sketch Daily...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead maiden I've been working primarily on her face.  Her eyes and makeup are in place, but the highlights will come later as will her eyelashes.  I've done the underpainting of her hair and the underpainting for the marigolds was finished before; but when complete, her hair will be dark and the marigolds orange.  I'm still a ways from being done, but I feel that I will meet my deadline.  Usually I work on more than one painting at a time, but I presently feel that I must devote myself to this one until it is complete.

This lovely maiden is on an 11"x14" panel in acrylics.

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  My schedule is a bit off currently though due to this deadline so I'm not sure when next I'll be here but you also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead Big Eye Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP + Sketches of Big Eye Angels Fairies Maidens & Flowers / September 1-14 / Art Sketch Daily...

Edit 9/18:  I'm still working on this painting with an upcoming deadline, if my progress goes well enough, I'll post an update again on Friday.  If not I'll need to continue working and wait to post again until I feel closer to completion...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead maiden I've completed the background and the underpainting of the marigold flowers.  I'm still working on her underpainting for her face and her hair needs to be blocked in as well.  When complete, her hair will be dark, the marigolds orange, and her face will have makeup as well.  I'm a long ways from being done though and the deadline for this is coming up, so it will be my focus for a while...

Original Big Eye Gothic Snow White Fairytale Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Jasmine Becket-Griffith Exhibit at the Corey Helford Gallery II...

"Sneewittchen" Original 8"x10" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Sneewittchen."  She is inspired by the Grimms' fairy tale Snow White.  "Sneewittchen" translates to Snow White from German as written back when it was published.  Her dark hair is adorned with water lilies, her skin is ever so pale, and her lips a brilliant red.  The art has a lowbrow surreal feel.  The original big eye gothic fairytale painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Jasmine Becket-Griffith Magical Thinking Exhibit Part II

Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Magical Thinking Part II (CLOSED Show)
Corey Helford Gallery
Most of the pieces are sold, but please send inquiries for available work to sherri@coreyhelfordgallery.com.

Magical Thinking is Jasmine Becket-Griffith's solo show at the Corey Helford Gallery.  She is one of my favorite artists.  Her surrealist big eyed beauties are a source of inspiration to me.  I feel very fortunate when I get to see some of her works in person.  She did a number of small studies, some of which correspond to larger pieces, that I found very compelling.   These are some of the pieces that had floral components.  Her flowers are every bit as beautiful as her big eye maidens.

This is Part II of IV of the photos that I'm sharing from this show.  I'll link them together here as I go.  Part I is here.
