Catherine Al-Rubaie is one of my favorite artists. When she suggested we work together on a painting, I was extremely honored. She picked a face sketch from last February's 29 faces challenge and created this amazing painting. There are gladiolas, daylilies, a butterfly in focus and some implied, and an amazing little hummingbird and such incredible beauty. The more you look at this painting, the more there is to see... This midsummer fairy queen is so beautiful to behold and I am so happy to have played a part in the creation of this lovely painting. The piece has a surreal fine art fantasy feel.
Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She looks like she might be planning something. I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be mermaid or goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
She is face 5 for 29 faces in September. The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.
