A Little Dragon Sketch...

Here is a sketch of a young dragon.  I haven't decided yet if I want the dragon to be on an 8"x10" or a 5"x7" base, it depends on how the compostion looks when I play with it in photoshop...

A Photograph of a Yellow and White Bearded Iris at Descanso Gardens...

I believe I took this photograph of a yellow and white bearded iris last year at Descanso Gardens, they aren't currently in bloom, but the roses and waterlilies are.  I think there is great beauty in flowers, irises are one of my favorite flowers...

Mermaid Plus Seahorses Sketch...

Here is my big eye mermaid sketch transferred to the panel with her seahorse friends, it's a little hard to see, but it should be more clear as I start to apply paint.  I've been wanting to start on this 11"x14" painting of a mermaid and her seahorses for a while, but I am easily distracted by so many things I want to paint...

I believe I took this photograph of a pink waterlily last year at Descanso Gardens, but I've been there recently and they are in bloom right now.  I hope you will enjoy this water lily photo, if all goes well, I will share my waterlily fairy maiden tomorrow as well as a small waterlily painting......

Mermaid Face Sketch...

This big eye sketch is part of my process for a mermaid painting who will have a couple of seahorse friends that I sketched some time ago.  I'm going to play around with the layout combining them together in photoshop before I'm ready to start on the actual piece.

Yesterday I spent the day with my mother at Descanso Gardens and then to the bookstore.  I am in the planning stages for some new paintings, but I don't quite have anything to share just yet.  After I go to the post office to drop off the painting, I hope to make some progress!

I was very pleased to have been included in The No Themes & No Limits Art Show 2, thank you all for your positive wishes.  There were also some other wonderful artists not pictured here, but these are the ones I had the opportunity to photograph with their works.  It was great to see the people who were able to come and inspiring to have been included amongst such wonderful artists.

Angel Fairy Sketch...

Here is a sketch I did of a winsome fairy angel.  I'm not sure if I'll do anything more with her, but I loved her soft little smile.  The show was very nice, I'll try to post some photographs from it tomorrow...  Happy Father's Day!

Show Today!

Rose Immersion Original 16"x20" Painting on Canvas On Hold until after the show today, but usually on my website here.

This is one of the paintings I have brought for our show today in Pomona, CA.  The information is here.  I don't do a lot of live events because I'm a bit shy, but fortunately for me Alex is a lot less so, so doing a show with him is optimal.  I still have to put the labels up, but everything is hung and almost ready to go...

I'll try to take some photographs today.

Work in Progress Waterlily Fairy Almost Complete...

Here is a work in progress view of my waterlily fairy maiden.  In this wip she is almost complete.  I have now finished this garden guardian and will be taking her to the show, but I'll share the completed painting another day...

A Photograph of Gladiola Flowers in Our Garden...

I took this photograph of gladiola flowers in our garden.  I have been waiting and waiting for them to bloom!  There are these peach ones and some yellow ones as well.  We didn't plant these flowers, they were planted by the people who lived here before, but they are lovely.  We are also growing some tomatoes and cucumbers this year, if we were farmers we would starve, but fortunately these are supplemental...

I've done some more on my mermaid work in progress, her hair won't be white it will be more of a fuschia, but I've blocked it in in photoshop to show where it will go.  I think I'll be completing her on time for the show!

Kitten Cat Kitty Sketch...

I took this photograph of three flowers at Descanso Gardens by the pond near the entrance.  I think they are a type of iris, but I'm not certain.  They are small and delicate and I think quite lovely...

I took this photograph of a white tulip at Descanso Gardens, it is an inside view.  Tulip season has come and gone at Descanso Gardens, but I have my photographs to hold me until next year!  I would like to paint a fairy garden guardian with a tulip, so I have been looking through my images to narrow it down somewhat.  I'm not planning on using this one for that, but I thought this Spring flower was beautiful...

This painting is part of the permanent collection at the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  It is titled Teresa, Countess Kinsky and it is by Marie-Louise-Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, alternately spelled LeBrun or Le Brun.  It is a large and regal painting touched with delicate beauty.  I love this painting and I hope you will enjoy it...
