Happy Thanksgiving! Zen Waterlily Water Lily Pink Flower Original Painting...

Happy Thanksgiving wishes from me to you.  This has been a different kind of year than most, but I am still thankful for so much.  I hope you have a beautiful and safe day.

"Zen Waterlily" Original 5"x7" Painting, Open Edition 5"x7" Giclee Prints & Limited Edition Giclee ACEO Prints Here

This is "Zen Waterlily," an original pink water lily painting.  I love to see and paint flowers, they have such a delicate grace.  The art has a painterly realist impressionist feel...

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisabellarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions... This month, my theme is angel art and more; you may see them here.

My Photograph of Lotus Flowers in the Chinese Gardens at Huntington Gardens + Sketch of a Big Eye Angel, Goddess, & Fairy/ September 25, 26, & 27 Art Sketches Daily...

I took this photograph of lotus flowers and a bridge at Huntington Gardens.  The Chinese gardens are a delight to see, there are linked ponds and beautiful pathways in addition to the lovely water lilies.  I believe that the time of the lotus lily has passed, but some of the smaller waterlilies may still be blooming.  I hope that you will enjoy the photos!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a sweet flower headband.  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is from day 25.

I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.  I think I will try to extend it out to a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days...

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a very silly quality...  I think she is most likely a goddess of mischief, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

My Photograph of Peach Water Lily Flowers at the Norton Simon...

In addition to having a wonderful art collection, the Norton Simon Museum of Art has a beautiful pond that you may walk around.  I took this photograph of this peach water lily a while back.  I love to paint water lilies, so whenever I get the opportunity to photograph them, I try to do so.  These flowers are not in season here right now, but one of the lovely things about photographs is that they can be enjoyed at any time.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

You may see some of my finished paintings at http://www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.

My Photograph of Two Pale Yellow Water Lilies at Descanso Gardens...

I took this photograph of two pale yellow water lilies in one of the ponds at Descanso Gardens.  I think it's possible that the blur is from a dragonfly or two going too quickly by to be captured by my camera...  Ah beauty of a water lily and the speed of a dragonfly...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

Work in Progress Original White Water Lilies Painting...

Here is a work in progress view of my white water lilies painting.  I have only a few petals left to go, then I have to decide if I want to give the background a little bit of a dark wash on the brightest parts (right now in broad daylight, I think the lily pads steal too much focus).  Then after that I will decide if I need to do any more layers on the petals of the waterlilies and then I'll be done!

White Water Lilies Original Painting Work in Progress...

Here is a work in progress view of my large 18"x24" original white water lilies painting.  I've done a few layers on the bottom water lily, but I'll probably go back to it and finesse the shading a bit once the top waterlily is painted.  This is based on one of my photographs.  I love waterlilies, Alex asks me how many water lily reference photographs do I need to take, I'm not sure that I'll ever have enough...

A Photograph of a Canadian Goose & Water Lilies at the Norton Simon Museum of Art Pond & Face 18...

This photograph is of a Canadian goose amidst the water lilies in the pond at the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  There are two Canadian geese that are often in the garden there.  I think they are so beautiful!  I hope you will enjoy this photo...

This is face 18 for the 29 faces September challenge.  She is a very joyous big eye fairy angel or possibly mermaid sketch.  For 29 Faces, the challenge is to share 29 faces during the given month.  I'm not certain, but I may not be able to post tomorrow.  If that's the case, I'll sketch tonight and tomorrow try to post my two faces on Friday.

Work in Progress White Water Lilies Painting + Face 14 for 29 Faces...

Here is a work in progress view of my 18"x24" white water lilies painting.  I've painted some more petals on the bottom flower and put additional layers on the ones that were done before.  I think I should be done with the bottom water lily the next time I work on the painting, except for touch ups, but it's hard to say.  Once I've gone further with the top waterlily, I may need to adjust both waterlilies.

I did the sketch for these water lilies quite some time ago when I was sketching potential lilies for my big eye garden guardian "Waterlily Enchantment."  Alex said these wouldn't work well as her flower, but I loved them so much, I decided to paint them on their own canvas.

This photograph is of some peach water lilies I took at the pond at the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  I love waterlilies and take great joy in painting and photographing them.  I hadn't ever noticed the peach ones before this year, I've seen pink, white, yellow, and purple; but this is the first time I've seen peach...  I hope you will enjoy this photo...

Mini Work in Progress Update on my Original Water Lilies Painting + Gothic Big Eye Mermaid Website Update...

Here is a work in progress view of my water lilies painting.  I've started work on the lower water lily, I still have a very long ways to go on this painting.  This is just a mini update on my 18"x24" lotus painting, I very much felt like painting last night, but was so tired, I just didn't get too far into it.  Waterlilies are so beautiful to me, I have a huge folder of reference waterlily photographs that I've taken, and still I take more whenever the option presents itself to me...

Irises by Vincent van Gogh at the J. Paul Getty Center Museum of Art & a Water Lily WIP

I love the art of Vincent van Gogh, there's such a wonderful energy and passion to his work.  This piece is part of the permanent collection at the J. Paul Getty Center Museum of Art.  Although he considered it to be a study rather than a finished piece, I think it is one of my favorites by him.  At one art lecture I attended, they said the one white iris symbolized hope.  It was painted in the garden of the Saint-Remy asylum where he was recuperating.

Here is a work in progress view of my water lily painting.  I am mostly done with the background and am ready to start painting the water lilies.  Although one waterlily is touched with pink and the other a bit of yellow, the waterlilies will be predominantly white.  It is on an 18"x24" canvas.

Original Water Lily Painting Work in Progress...

Here is an updated work in progress view of my original water lily painting.  Although I'm not done with them, I've worked a bit on the waterlily pads.  This is a large one for me at 18"x24", I tend to do fewer larger paintings, but I loved these two water lilies growing together and thought they'd look great big...
