WIP Mermaid with a Seashell Crown Art Original Painting Work in Progress...

I finished the toned drawing study I shared a while back and have begun the painting of this mermaid with a seashell crown.  I'll share the finished version of the drawing when I am also finished with this piece.  In this original wip work in progress acrylic painting I've been working on the background, the lineart for her face and details are difficult to see, but they have been transferred over.  I have a smidge more to do on the background and then I'll begin with the coral part of her crown.  It isn't blocked in as I plan on doing it with drips over the dark background...

This big eyed beauty is on a 16"x20" oval canvas.

This is a work in progress, but I also post finished pieces here as well if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisabellarusso.com if you'd like.

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye little red riding hood I've mostly finished her underpainting.  Fairytales hold a strong allure for me.  In this piece, I'm focused on her face.  I've completed her hair and have started work on the overpainting of her hood and ribbon.  Next will come some final shading and highlights for her eyes.

Wrapping Up 3 Years of Posting Daily Sketches Big Eye Angels Fairies Mermaids Goddesses, Flowers, Animals, & More...

January 24-31 Sketches, Conclusion of Posting Daily Sketches

I did the 29 faces challenge five times before I decided to embark on a longer challenge.  On February 1st of 2016 I decided to start sketching daily.  Each subsequent month I renewed that challenge to myself.  Today, January 31st of 2019 marks the three year mark of sketching daily and sharing a sketch for every day.  They have been primarily rough sketches.  I plan to continue to sketch daily, but I've decided that from this point forward, I will share only a selection of the sketches.

I may change my mind on this if I find myself faltering in my resolve to sketch daily without the challenge of sharing them, but at this point, I feel like the time spent scanning and resizing each and every sketch could be better spent.  I hope you have enjoyed my daily sketches and will continue to enjoy my featured sketches moving onward.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of an daffodil.  This flower seems cheerful to me...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Painting Touch Ups + Sketch of a Fairy Angel, Daffodil Flowers, & Big Eye Goddess / May 30-June 1 / Art Sketches Daily...

Every so often, I try to get organized.  As I was sorting my paintings, I came across five that needed touch ups.  These four are the ones I worked on this week.  They're now retouched and I will be changing how I store my paintings.  I had them stacked upon each other and some sections of the paint stuck.  Due to a wonderful gift of a bookshelf, I now have them upright with parchment paper between them.  Touch ups can be challenging, but I'm pleased to say these ones went well and these are back to being available.

I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

WIP Big Eye Self Portrait Art Original Painting Work in Progress + Sketch Art / February 5-9 / Daily Sketches...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of an idealized big eye version of myself, I've been working on the highlights and eye details.  From far back it can be difficult to see the details so I'm sharing a closeup.  I need to work a little more on the eyes and then comes the hair wispies.  I think this is the mermaid version of me...

This idealized big eyed self portrait is on a 16"x20" canvas in acrylics.

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.
