Feliz dia de los Muertos! Happy Day of the Dead! This is my painting for the Día de los Muertos: Recuerdos de Sabores/Flavorful Memories Exhibit at the Ontario Museum of art. I didn't manage to post a wip work in progress shot, but I did take a day off to visit the show and I'll try to share some pictures from it when I get a chance. So, I didn't finish my scarecrow painting, my massive household project has been eating almost all of my time and energy; but Wednesday Addams and I wanted to wish you a happy, safe, and spooky Halloween (okay the safe is from me...). The painting is 11"x14" acrylic with texture in some of the cemetary tombstones on canvas, framed.
This is the sketch I submitted for the Ontario Museum of Art Show Día de los Muertos: Recuerdos de Sabores/Flavorful Memories Exhibit. The theme was memories and food and I decided on a whimsical headress of pan dulce that was composed of sweet bread that I shared with my grandparents on the head of a maiden kissed by her ancestor.
I plan on sharing some work in progress views of the piece as well as the finished piece on Dia de los Muertos, but if you'd like to see the original completed painting in person, it's up at the museum. The information is below.
