Ram Sheep Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...
In this work in progress, I've been working on the background of my ram painting some more. The background of this sheep WIP now has a more dynamic, textured feel...
29 faces in February starts tomorrow, I am almost completely unprepared... I wanted to gather some reference in advance, but it looks like it will be very much a day by day adventure.

Big Eye Angel Fairy Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...
In this work in progress, I've been working on the wings of my big eye angel fairy. I still have some more work to go on them. Before I go much further on this wip, I need to determine the direction of my light source. Her hair will look better lit from one side and her face will look better lit from the other side... Fortunately this is a fantasy piece, so I may decide to have multiple light sources...
It's Thursday, but I may not have much time to post tomorrow. If I can I'll link up with Paint Party Friday before we leave, Alex and I are going to LACMA to see some art! To see more participants, please visit:

My Photograph of a Pink Camellia Flower at Descanso Gardens...
I took this photograph of a pink camellia flower at Descanso Gardens a while back, but it's definitely camellia season there right now. There's such a range of beauty in camellias, so many variations in looks... I loved this one especially, it has such a soft pink hue. I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

"Dark Matters of the Heart" Original 5"x5" Painting here
"Heart of Darkness" Original 5"x5" Painting here
"Pink on Pink" Original 5"x5" Painting here
This week I am listing four original heart paintings. I love Valentine's Day, although I think we should celebrate the love we share for others all year long, I think it's wonderful that we have a special day to honor those we love in our life...
I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here with variations on my heart inspired art. Some are dark and gothic, some are soft and sweet; I think they all have a romantic feel.
Most of my art is also available on my website at http://www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to offer some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions... I have started at updating and adding payment buttons to my website. It's a very slow project, but one I hope to focus on.

Still Life by Francisco de Zurbarán at the Norton Simon Museum of Art + Website Update...
I took this photograph of "Still Life with Lemons, Oranges and a Rose" by Francisco de Zurbarán at the Norton Simon Museum of Art. I feel it has a powerful draw. To Catholics of the 17th century, this painting would have had deep symbolic religious meaning. It is the only signed and dated piece by this master of the Seville school of painting. I find its beauty inspiring.
Al-Rubaie Art is a contemporary master when comes to still life paintings. She does some of the most amazing paintings I have ever seen, if you have a chance, take a look at her magnificent paintings.

Angel Fairy Cyborg Alien Sketch Art + Abstract Angel Website Update...
Here is a rough sketch that I did of a big eye female. I'm not really sure if she's an alien or a cyborg or an angel fairy, I just know that when I decided to sketch her, I wanted to do something fun with her hair... I'm not sure if I'll use her for anything else, but I enjoyed sketching her.

Ram Sheep Animal Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP...
Here is the start of my ram painting that I'm doing in honor of Year of the Sheep for Chinese New Year. In this work in progress, I've painted in an impressionistic dark blue background. I still plan on doing a bit more with this background before I start on the ram, I think it needs a bit more attention. The painting is 5"x7" on panel. The line art is a bit faint in this WIP, but it should come together more as the painting progresses. Animals are such a joy to paint.

Big Eye Angel Fairy Work in Progress WIP...
Here is the start of my newest big eye angel fairy painting. In this work in progress, I've painted in a soft blue background. The painting is 8"x10" on canvas. It took me some time to get started on her, it was a bit of a push to finish Athena for the show and I needed some time to decompress. I'll also be working on my ram, I should have an WIP update on that tomorrow.

Recent Show at the Chateau L'Amour Gallery...
Here are some photographs I took at my most recent show. The gallery is the Chateau L'Amour Gallery, owned by the amazing Dennis Delgado. The show was hosted by Chris 'Cakeshop' Penalber of Cakeshop Oddities and Melissa Lyndell of Double Agent. They did an amazing job curating and hanging the show. There was incredible art wall to ceiling. I didn't get the names of many of the artists work which was shown, so if you see any art you recognize, feel free to tag or comment with the name and I'll be very happy to know who the artist is... Also, if you see art you're interested in, the show information is here. To see more of my art, please visit http://www.lisarusso.com.

Deer Fawn Sketch Art + Wonder Woman Website Update...
Here is a rough sketch of two running deer. I believe they are fawns. They are based on a photograph by Shawn Parker Photography, check out his wonderful photographs if you get a chance! I may use these two in a painting of the Greek goddess Artemis (known to the Romans as Diana), but I'm not sure yet, it's very early stages yet. I still have to do some sketches of her and then work out what will look right with her.

Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP Continues...
I've done some more work on my Athena big eye Greek goddess (also known to the Romans as Minerva) with owl painting. I've painted her eyebrows, eyelashes, lips, and toga. The next thing that I paint will be her hair. I'm thinking about doing 16"x20" paintings of all of the Greek Goddesses. I've done a couple of others before, but I'd like to do them again. I used to love the Greek myths as a child and I enjoy them to this day...

Happy New Year Wishes & Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP...
I hope the new year brings you much joy! Happy new year wishes from me to you...
I've done some glazing using Golden Glazing Liquid (Gloss), I tested a couple more than the ones I shared last week and I decided that one was the one that best fit my purpose. However, Golden Glazing Liquid (Satin) came in a close second. It was an interesting experience using the glazing medium, there's a bit of glare on her face in the photograph from the glaze, I hope to get a better picture next time. At this point I'm ready to move forward to her features...
