My Photograph of a Pink Rose Flower at Huntington Gardens + Sketch of a Big Eye Angel, Siberian Iris Flower, & Fairy/ January 22, 23, & 24 Art Sketches Daily...

I took this photograph of this pink rose at Huntington Gardens in the winter.  There had just been some rain and the flower still has some droplets on it.  This rosebud looks like it's just starting to bloom.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a whimsical expression...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January. This is from day 22.

Here is a sketch of a siberian iris flower.  Irises are amongst my favorite flowers...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Happy New Year Wishes from a Garden Guardian Angel Fairy! December Sketches...

I hope this coming year brings you much joy and beauty.  This garden guardian angel fairy and I send Happy New Year wishes from lisarusso.com.

This painting is the last one I will have completed this year, she actually looks a bit different now that I've varnished her, I'll share the final version of her another day; but I liked this version of her with this gold leafing look to usher in the new year!

This big eyed beauty is on a 16"x20" canvas in acrylics.  This piece and "Moonrise" have been accepted by the Ontario Museum of History & Art "Diversity and Inclusion:  The Influence of African American Art in Southern California Exhibit."  I've yet to frame them, but they are both complete!

Purple & Red Bearded Iris Art Completed Painting + September Sketches, Sketch 8, Goddess...

"Variegated Bliss" Original Painting Sold, Giclee Prints & LE ACEO Prints Here

I completed this purple and crimson bearded iris painting a while back, the original was painted in oils on panel.  It sold after it came back home from the El Festival de las Flores show it was in at the Neutra Institute Gallery & Museum, I didn't get a chance to add it to my website until now.  I love irises, there is something almost magical to me in their beauty.  The art has an impressionist realist feel.  I'd like to add this one as an 8"x10" giclee print and LE ACEO print into the mix of my first Tuesday auctions when I next do a group of purple flowers, I hope that will be in November; but they will also be at the link above on my website regardless of that.

This is a completed work, I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a sweetness to her...  I think she is most likely a moon goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is day 8.

I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.  I may extend it out to a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days...

Original Big Eye Gothic Fairy Iris Garden Guardian Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints! The Art Collector Starter Kit IV Group Exhibition Part II at the Corey Helford Gallery...

"Iris Dream" Original 16"x20" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Iris Dream."  She has large deep green eyes, lovely pink hair hair, and a pink and peach bearded iris adorning her head.  The art has a lowbrow surreal fantasy feel.  The original big eye gothic angel fairy garden guardian painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is big eyes of blue, you may see them here.

I am linking this post with Inspire Me Monday

The Corey Helford Gallery has three sections, there is the main gallery and then two additional galleries.  I went to see The Art Collector Starter Kit IV Group Exhibition as a couple of my favorite artists had work in the show.  As there were so many pieces that I liked, I have shared the show in two parts, Part I is here and features art by Jasmine Becket-Griffith amongst others.  I'm opening Part II with a piece by one of my favorite artists, Camilla d'Errico.  The show was filled with so many beautiful pieces. The Art Collector Starter Kit IV Group Exhibition is CLOSED, but the gallery may have some of these artists' works available.

"THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT" by Camilla d'Errico

"CRADLE" by Yuka Sakuma

"MOTHER EARTH" by Maika Kobayashi

"WHO ARE YOU?" 2017 by Brandi Milne

"WINGS" by Maria Kreyn

"ZOMBI" by Carlos Ramos

"DAISY" by Sylvia Ji

"GREEN APPETITE" by Victor Fota

"TABITHA - WHILE IT LASTED" by Lu Cong

"IMBUE" by Sasha Ira

"WHEN THE FLOWERS BLOOM" by Miho Hirano

Whilst I have continued to sketch daily, I spent my time getting this ready and haven't had a chance to prep my sketches yet.  I'll try to get caught up on posting my daily sketches tomorrow.

WIP Big Eye Goddess Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + July Sketches, Sketch 17, Iris Flower...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've painted her features and her dress.  I still have a little more work to do on her dress before I move on to her hair...  I think I am going to save the highlights in her eyes until last again.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of an iris.  Irises are one of my favorite flowers, I can't seem to grow them in my garden, but I love seeing them when I visit the Huntington and Descanso Gardens.  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Original Big Eye Gothic Latina Fairy Angel Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints! June Sketches...

"Lace Wings" Original 8"x10" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Lace Wings."  I think I was channeling my inner Modigliani with this original big eye gothic Latina fairy angel painting.  She has a very long elegant neck.  Her hair, eyes, and lips are purple and her wings are inspired by a lace wing butterfly; although I have modified the colors to suit the piece.  The art has a lowbrow surreal feel.  She is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is a selection of some of my animals, you may see them here.  There is also an angel who was a bonus auction from last month...

This is my framed iris painting that was accepted to El Festival de las Flores at the Neutra Institute Gallery & Museum!  It is an 8"x10" oil painting on panel titled "Variegated Bliss."  I forgot to measure the frame before I dropped it off yesterday, but I'll try to get the measurements when I go to the opening on Saturday.  I'm not sure exactly when I'll be there, probably towards the end though.  I'll also try to take some photographs while I'm there so that if you can't make it to the show, you'll still get to see some of the art.  I love to paint and view flower paintings!

WIP Iris Flower Floral Art Original Painting Work in Progress + March Sketches / Daily Sketch 27 / Goddess...

In this original 8"x10" work in progress WIP oil painting of an iris, I'm almost done with this painting.  It's a bearded iris so I need to add the beard, some minor details, and a little bit of glazing.  I think this piece has a bold feeling to it...

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

WIP Iris Flower Floral Art Original Painting Work in Progress + March Sketches / Sketch 11, 12, & 13 / Angel Fairy, Icelandic Poppies, & Turtle...

In this original 8"x10" work in progress WIP oil painting of an iris, I've started on the second layers inthe upper right part of the flower.  I'm going to try to sand a bit that looks a little thick on the left side.  This is my second painting with the water soluble oils.  I really like their blendability; but on this panel, there are some drawbacks.  When I complete this painting, I'm going to try them on canvas and see how it goes.  I liked how they worked on the lilac rosebud I painted, but I'm not always in the mood to paint on wood...

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of icelandic poppies.  I took my reference photos of them during a visit to Descanso Gardens.  I may be incorporating them into the hair of a maiden I am hoping to start once I've determined which flowers will work best for her, but I have quite a few more sketches to do before that is determined...
