Happy Black History Month! Big Eye Original Garden Guardian Fairy Painting...

This big eyed garden guardian and I at lisabellarusso.com would like to wish you a Happy Black History Month.

Original 16"x20" Garden Guardian Painting, Open Edition 8"x10" Giclee Prints & Limited Edition Giclee ACEO Prints Coming Soon to...

http://lisarusso.com/fantasyart/fantasy.htm

It's the very tail end of Black History Month, but I'd still like to share this lovely maiden with you.  I painted her for the Diversity and Inclusion: The Influence of African-American Art in Southern California at the Ontario Museum of Art Exhibit.  When I did a little research, I found that it was traditional in Black History to put blue bottles in the garden to protect it.  I decided I wanted to paint one of my garden guardians for the show with a blue orchid as a connection to the protection of the blue bottles.

I haven't added her to my website yet, but when I do I will share the link.

Original Big Eye Gothic Goddess & Betta Fish Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Happy Valentine's Day...

Happy Valentine's Day!

"Lovfina" Original 4"x4" Painting on Panel Here

This week my featured painting is "Lovfina."  This big eye blue eyed gothic goddess with silver hair has a blue green gold betta fish friend.  It looks like he is going in for the kiss, so I thought he'd be perfect for Valentine's Day.  I love betta fish, I painted a blue one who shows up solo in another piece that I plan to share soon, but I've linked them in the link above if you can't wait...  They are some of my smallest paintings.  The art has a lowbrow fantasy surrealism feel to the style.  The original goddess and betta fish painting is available for on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is Chinese Zodiac Animals (although a Western dragon has sneaked in),  you may see them here.

Wrapping Up 3 Years of Posting Daily Sketches Big Eye Angels Fairies Mermaids Goddesses, Flowers, Animals, & More...

January 24-31 Sketches, Conclusion of Posting Daily Sketches

I did the 29 faces challenge five times before I decided to embark on a longer challenge.  On February 1st of 2016 I decided to start sketching daily.  Each subsequent month I renewed that challenge to myself.  Today, January 31st of 2019 marks the three year mark of sketching daily and sharing a sketch for every day.  They have been primarily rough sketches.  I plan to continue to sketch daily, but I've decided that from this point forward, I will share only a selection of the sketches.

I may change my mind on this if I find myself faltering in my resolve to sketch daily without the challenge of sharing them, but at this point, I feel like the time spent scanning and resizing each and every sketch could be better spent.  I hope you have enjoyed my daily sketches and will continue to enjoy my featured sketches moving onward.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of an daffodil.  This flower seems cheerful to me...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Annie Stegg Gerard's Moonlit Vale Exhibit at the Gallery Nucleus Part I

Annie Stegg Gerard is on of my favorite contemporary artists, her artwork sings with magical realism and dazzling details.  I can get lost so very easily in her art.  Recently she launched her first coloring book "The Moonlit Vale" and has some of her ink illustrations, spot illustrations, and original oil paintings available at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra.  If you're in the area, I highly recommend this show, the art is incredible.  Seeing her ink drawings and her paintings together is a rare treat.  Her solo show is in the upstairs part of the gallery.  If I could, I'd take all of her pieces home with me!  The coloring book is available in the bookstore portion of the gallery as well as online...   It is also available directly from the artist.
