WIP Work in Progress View of "Fortune Smiles"

In this original wip work in progress acrylic painting of a piglet, I have finished the underpainting.  This is not the completed version, but one of the steps along the way, the original completed painting is available at the Realm/Ministry of Culture Zodiac: Year of the Boar Exhibit at the Art Salon Chinatown until March 17th...  The panel that I'm painted on is 7"x5" and I intend to release the prints and an image of the framed original next week.  Please contact me if you'd like a preview of the finished piece, my little piggy gets more pink and nuanced in the pig's state of completion.

This is a work in progress, but I also post finished pieces here as well if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm a little early, but I'm going to try to join in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

I've still been sketching daily, but I haven't had the opportunity yet to have a scanning party, so I'll try to share them when I next post...

Original Big Eye Gothic Snow White Fairytale Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Jasmine Becket-Griffith Exhibit at the Corey Helford Gallery II...

"Sneewittchen" Original 8"x10" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Sneewittchen."  She is inspired by the Grimms' fairy tale Snow White.  "Sneewittchen" translates to Snow White from German as written back when it was published.  Her dark hair is adorned with water lilies, her skin is ever so pale, and her lips a brilliant red.  The art has a lowbrow surreal feel.  The original big eye gothic fairytale painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme includes some of my maidens with big blue eyes, you may see them here.

Jasmine Becket-Griffith Magical Thinking Exhibit Part II

Jasmine Becket-Griffith
Magical Thinking Part II (CLOSED Show)
Corey Helford Gallery
Most of the pieces are sold, but please send inquiries for available work to sherri@coreyhelfordgallery.com.

Magical Thinking is Jasmine Becket-Griffith's solo show at the Corey Helford Gallery.  She is one of my favorite artists.  Her surrealist big eyed beauties are a source of inspiration to me.  I feel very fortunate when I get to see some of her works in person.  She did a number of small studies, some of which correspond to larger pieces, that I found very compelling.   These are some of the pieces that had floral components.  Her flowers are every bit as beautiful as her big eye maidens.

This is Part II of IV of the photos that I'm sharing from this show.  I'll link them together here as I go.  Part I is here.

This week my featured painting is "Violet Windflower."  Anemone flowers translate to windflower in Greek and in the myths were thought to have sprung from Athena's tears from the loss of Adonis.  The art has a soft realist impressionist feel.  The purple anemone floral painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme includes some of my Chinese Zodiac inspired animals, you may see them here.

In Persuit of Flora Part I
Huntington Gardens (Closed Show)
Eighteenth-Century Botanical Drawings from The Huntington's Art Collections
Huntington Art Gallery – Works on Paper Room

The natural world is filled with many wonders and beauty.  In the 18th century, botanical illustrations were a way to describe and record very detailed depictions of fruits and flowers.  This show exhibited botanical drawings from Huntington Garden's Art Collections.  In addition to being delicate and lovely works of art, these pieces conveyed information about the plants that were painted.  These botanical illustrations from the "Age of Discovery" were a wonder to behold.  I hope that you will enjoy them.

This is part I of II.  I will link to part II here.   This is a closed show.

Magical Thinking Part I
Corey Helford Gallery

Edit (CLOSED Show)

This show is open until September 1st 2018.

One of her themes for this show was Blue Willow Porcelain, they are the ones I am sharing in this grouping.  I love the sculpture she designed!  She did a number of small studies, some of which correspond to larger pieces, that I found very compelling.  One of my favorite pieces from the show is "Blue Willow Skull;" it's the last one I shared in this group.

This is Part I of the photos that I'm sharing from this show.  I'm not sure how many parts there will be as I'm still going through the images, but I'll link them together here as I go.

Edit:  This is Part I of IV.  Part II is here.
