Happy Father's Day! Original Fancy Blue Betta Fish Painting...

I had a blue betta fish, I'm not sure if he was ever a father, but he certainly wanted to be.  He built his little bubble nest on a regular basis...  Happy father's day from Phinneas and I.  I hope you have a day filled with love and beauty.

Original Blue Red Betta Siamese Fighting Splendens Fish Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints!

"Phinneas" Original 4"x4" Painting on Panel Here

This week my featured painting is "Phinneas."  This little betta fish is predominately blue with red accents. I am so smitten with betta splendens fish that I've also featured one in another painting that I plan to shared last week, if you missed him with his goddess friend, I've linked them in the link above...  They are some of my smallest paintings.  The art has a lowbrow fantasy surrealism feel to the style.  The original Siamese fighting fish painting is available on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is Chinese Zodiac Animals (although a Western dragon has sneaked in), you may see them here.

Bonus Featured Image "Phinneas"
5"x7" Open Edition print on Sale here
ACEO 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition LE 1st of 25 on Sale here

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  Her eyes are gently closed.  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is day 1.

I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September. To learn more about the challenge, please click here: http://29faces.blogspot.com/.

Happy Eclipse Day!

I took these photographs of the sun during the solar eclipse from my front yard.  At the last minute I bought some solar eclipse glasses (I called around 13 places on Friday and Saturday until I found someone local who had them in stock), I bought an extra one to tape over my camera lense as I read that the eclipse could damage camera lense.  The image on the bottom is pretty much what the eclipse looked like to me through the solar eclipse glasses, the one on the top was at a different camera setting and I thought it was beautiful.  I hope that you will enjoy the photos!

WIP Big Eye Goddess Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + August Sketches, Sketch 3 & 4, Daffodil & Calla Lily Flower...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've been working on his fins, I'm pleased with them at this point and will move on to his body soon...  I think I am going to save the highlights in her eyes until last again.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've painted her dress as well as her hair and started on the fins of her betta fish friend...  I think I am going to save the highlights in her eyes until last again.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

WIP Big Eye Goddess Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + July Sketches, Sketch 17, Iris Flower...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've painted her features and her dress.  I still have a little more work to do on her dress before I move on to her hair...  I think I am going to save the highlights in her eyes until last again.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

WIP Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + July Sketches, Sketch 7, Big Eye Goddess...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a betta fish I've been working on his eyes and blocking in his form.  The white on his finlet won't be there when it's complete, there was just a smidge too much blue and the red I was using needed a little bit brighter of a base...  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've been working on her skin tones.  I'm debating on if I should work on her dress next or her features.  I am leaning towards her dress...  I think I am going to save the highlights in her eyes until last again.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a betta fish I've made the background a little darker.  I've also started on his stylized fins, they take a very steady hand and will take a bit longer before I have them all blocked in...  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

WIP Big Eye Goddess Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + June Sketches, Sketch 9, Duckling...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye goddess and a betta fish I've been working on the background.  I'm a couple of layers in, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to move forward or not; although it is less bright than my first layer, I'm not sure if it still isn't too bright.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

WIP Betta Fish Art Original Painting Work in Progress + June Sketches, Sketch 5, Big Eye Goddess...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a betta fish I've started working on the background.  It's a bit brighter I think than it will be when I'm done with the background, but I'm happy to have started this piece, even in the most early of stages.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

Sketch of a Few Fancy Betta Fish Variations, Art Sketches Daily, May 27 + 28...

Here is a sketch of a couple of fancy betta fish.  They are the ones I've selected to be a mini solo painting and the other betta will be a friend to a goddess maiden mini painting...  I feel they still need a bit more reworking at this point, but they are getting closer.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is from day 27.

This is a rough sketch.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is another sketch version of the fancy betta fish that will be a friend to a goddess maiden in a mini painting.  I've reworked it and I think it's getting closer to where I would like it to be; although there may still be some modifications though.  I'm also still working on getting the betta's maiden right...

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is day 28.

Sketch of a Few Fancy Betta Fish, Art Sketches Daily, May 21...

Here is a sketch of a few betta fish.  I love betta fish, these are based on some of the fancy betta fish varieties.  Yesterday's were pet store bettas as mine was.  Betta fish are also known as Siamese fighting fish and male betta fish fight each other to the death; so in real life they must be kept apart, but in my sketches they are much more mellow...  I might do a mini painting of one of them and possibly also have one betta fish be a friend to a tiny goddess, but I may need to do some more sketches...

Here is a sketch of a couple of betta fish.  I love betta fish, I had a blue pet store betta and he was very sweet.  I might do a mini painting of one of them and possibly also have one betta fish be a friend to a tiny goddess, but I still need to do some more sketches...

Angel Goddess Big Eye Fantasy Original Art Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! May Sketches...

This Week "Oncoming Storm" Original 11"x14" Painting here
8"x10" Open Edition print here
ACEO 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition LE 1st of 25 here

I am listing "Oncoming Storm," an original fantasy painting. This big eye redheaded angel fairy goddess has large green eyes and has her wings outstretched. She has large green eyes that in the original painting glimmer with a soft iridescence if the light hits her just right. The art has a surreal lowbrow feel...   I haven't quite finished "Pandora" yet, so while I have made some progress, I am going to wait to share her until another time.

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here this week from Tuesday to Tuesday with a theme some of my of angel fairies.

Most of my art is also available on my website at www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to put some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions... I have been updating my website. It's an ongoing project, but there is now an excellent selection of art available!

After the auction, "Oncoming Storm" will be available on my website here if unsold.

Here is a sketch of a betta fish.  I'm hoping to paint a larger than my usual paintings painting of a big eyed maiden with betta fish friends.  Before I do that though, I'd like to do a small painting of just a betta.  I had a blue betta and he was the sweetest little fish, so he will be blue...  This sketch is a start, but it needs some refining before I move any further with him though.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in May.  This is day 24.
