Cuddle Time! Huntington Gardens Photograph of a Bee with a Yellow Rose...

It was a beautiful day at Huntington Gardens yesterday.  My mother wanted to see the roses and they were gorgeous.  The bees were buzzing, the hummingbirds humming, and the gardens were glorious.  In this photograph that I took, the bee looked like it was cuddling the yellow rose...

My Photograph of a Pink Rose Flower at Huntington Gardens + Sketch of a Big Eye Angel, Siberian Iris Flower, & Fairy/ January 22, 23, & 24 Art Sketches Daily...

I took this photograph of this pink rose at Huntington Gardens in the winter.  There had just been some rain and the flower still has some droplets on it.  This rosebud looks like it's just starting to bloom.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a whimsical expression...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January. This is from day 22.

This is a rough sketch.

Here is a sketch of a siberian iris flower.  Irises are amongst my favorite flowers...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January.  This is from day 23.

"Rose Immersion" Original 16"x20" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Rose Immersion". The original big eye gothic angel fairy garden guardian painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  The original painting has some texture in the background and has a lowbrow surreal feel.

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is angels, you may see them here.

'Interlude' Exhibit by Audrey Kawasaki at the Thinkspace Gallery (Closed Show) Part II

Audrey Kawasaki is one of my favorite artists, her faces and hands are exquisite.  She works predominately in oils on wood.  These pieces are from her solo show 'Interlude' at the Thinkspace Gallery.  There's some very tasteful artistic nudity in some of her pieces, for my post I've chosen to crop those paintings to feature her faces.  The show is closed.  This is Part II, Part I is here.

The Ultraviolent Horror Show
ZoeTrope Arts and Events

I've saved sharing this spooky and spectacular show for Halloween!  Alex Ledante participated in "The Ultraviolent Horror Show" hosted by ZoeTrope Arts and Events.  Some of the art is a smidge darker than my usual fare that I typically share here, but still quite beautiful and compelling.

Here is a sketch of a rose.  Roses are so very near and dear to my heart that they recur with frequency in my work...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Happy Eclipse Day!

I took these photographs of the sun during the solar eclipse from my front yard.  At the last minute I bought some solar eclipse glasses (I called around 13 places on Friday and Saturday until I found someone local who had them in stock), I bought an extra one to tape over my camera lense as I read that the eclipse could damage camera lense.  The image on the bottom is pretty much what the eclipse looked like to me through the solar eclipse glasses, the one on the top was at a different camera setting and I thought it was beautiful.  I hope that you will enjoy the photos!

"Pink Ribbons" Original 18"x24" Painting on Canvas Here

The Corey Helford Gallery is fast becoming one of my favorite places to view contemporary art.  I went to see a different show, but I was thrilled to see Redd Walitzki's work at his "Stranger Than Earth" exhibit.  It was surreal, beautiful, and moving.  I will share some of the pieces from the show in two parts and link them together when I get around to the next part.  The show is OPEN until August 12th 2017; the gallery may have some of this artist's works available after the close of the show.

Edit, Part II is here.

WIP Flapjack Octopus Art Original Painting Work in Progress + July Sketches, Sketch 21, Rose Flower...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a flapjack octopus I've put down a layer of texture for the background and when that dried, I laid in some paint as well.  Next I'll do a bit of work on his eyes and block in his base color.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:
