Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP, Almost Complete!

Here is my 16"x20" Athena big eye Greek goddess (also known to the Romans as Minerva) with owl work in progress painting almost completed.  The owl just needs a bit of glazing and a touch up or two.  The completed painting will be on display tomorrow in Ontario, California.  I'd love to see you there if you'll be in the area.  The show information is here.  In case you can't make the show, I'll try to share the entirely completed painting hanging at the show and a better picture when I get her back.

Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP + Purple Bearded Iris Website Update...

I've done some more work on my Athena big eye Greek goddess (also known to the Romans as Minerva) with owl painting.  Here her hair is finished and I've done some more work on her owl.  He's such a cute and fluffy fellow, but has such a keen gaze...

Portrait of Madame de Cromot by Antoine Vestier at the Norton Simon Museum of Art + Athena Owl WIP...

I took this photograph of "Portrait of Madame de Cromot de Fougy" by Antoine Vestier at the Norton Simon Museum of Art, it is one of my favorites.  Its soft beauty is very compelling and inspiring to me.

Here is a work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  I've blocked in her hair, I still probably have a day or so worth of painting on her hair before I move on to her owl...

Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP Continues...

I've done some more work on my Athena big eye Greek goddess (also known to the Romans as Minerva) with owl painting.  I've painted her eyebrows, eyelashes, lips, and toga.  The next thing that I paint will be her hair.  I'm thinking about doing 16"x20" paintings of all of the Greek Goddesses.  I've done a couple of others before, but I'd like to do them again.  I used to love the Greek myths as a child and I enjoy them to this day...

Happy New Year Wishes & Athena Minerva with Owl Work in Progress WIP...

I hope the new year brings you much joy!  Happy new year wishes from me to you...

I'm working on my Athena big eye Greek goddess (also known to the Romans as Minerva) with owl painting.  I think I need around a week more of solid work on her to finish.  Sometimes I work on more than one painting at a time and I have a couple more in the works, but my main focus is on this one right now as I'd like to submit her for a show.

I've done some glazing using Golden Glazing Liquid (Gloss), I tested a couple more than the ones I shared last week and I decided that one was the one that best fit my purpose.  However, Golden Glazing Liquid (Satin) came in a close second.  It was an interesting experience using the glazing medium, there's a bit of glare on her face in the photograph from the glaze, I hope to get a better picture next time.  At this point I'm ready to move forward to her features...

Work in Progress Original Big Eye Athena Minerva with Owl Painting Art WIP + Blue Angel Website Update...

Here is a work in progress view of my original big eye Greek goddess Athena (also know to the Romans as Minerva) with her owl 16"x20" painting.  This goddess is looking a bit intense at this point I think.  Her face is blocked in, but I think I need a bit more lights and darks before I consider the skin tones of her face done...

Work in Progress Original Big Eye Athena Minerva with Owl Painting Art WIP...

Here is a work in progress view of an original big eye Greek goddess Athena (also know to the Romans as Minerva) with her owl painting.  I've started on her neck in this WIP, there's a bit of a glare under her chin as I took the photo when it was still wet.  Her skin tone is an olive, I think I may need some more lights and darks, but I'm going to work on her face for a bit and then decide...

Athena and Her Owl Big Eye Original Painting Work in Progress...

Here is another work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  The eyes are almost done.  I'm going to have to start a fresh palette if I'm going to have room to mix her skin tones...

Music by Jean-Honoré Fragonard at the Norton Simon Museum of Art + Athena with Owl WIP...

I love this painting by Jean-HonorĂ© Fragonard that hangs in the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  It is thought that the woman may be Erato, a muse of music and lyric poetry.  During a lecture I attended, the speaker said that this painting would likely be hung high, perhaps above a doorway.  It has a beautiful soft focus that I love.

Here is a work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  I think I'm almost done with the background at this point (although the painting is showing a bit darker here then it actually is on my monitor)...

Athena & Her Owl Original Painting Work in Progress...

Here is a work in progress view of my large 16"x20" original big eye Athena Greek goddess (known to the Romans as Minerva) with her little owl painting.  The sketch is down and I have begun painting the sky.  Still quite a ways to go with her, but I think she's starting in a good direction...

Original Art Goddess of Love Gothic Aphrodite Venus Painting! Art Prints & ACEOs! Spider Update Too...

This Week "Aphrodite" Original 5"x7" Painting here
5"x7" print here
ACEO 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition LE 1st of 25 here

This week I am listing "Aphrodite," an original big eye painting of a surreal gothic art goddess of love Aphrodite Venus inspired by your votes.  I posted another version of her not too long ago, but after some consideration, I decided to change her hair a bit.  She is still available as a print with her previous hair, but this is what the original looks like now.

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here with a theme of hummingbirds and sunflowers.  What is the link between hummingbirds and Aphrodite?  Only that I love them!

Most of my art is also available on my website at http://www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to offer some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions...  I am just getting started at updating and adding payment buttons to my website.  It's a very slow project, but one I hope to focus on.

I'm still working on the spider, it has so many legs!  Here is a work in progress update on the little fella...
