This week my featured painting is "Aphrodite."  I thought she'd be perfect for (almost) Valentine's Day.  She has big blue green teal eyes and blonde hair with purple streaks.  Aphrodite (also known to the Romans as Venus) is the Greek goddess of love and is part of my goddess series.  I think love is so very important.  The original big eye surreal lowbrow fantasy goddess painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is heart art with an abstract pop feel; you may see them here.

Here is a sketch of three daffodils.  The flowers are sweetly clustered...  I'm unsure if I'll paint this sketch or not, but I did enjoy sketching it. 

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in February.  This is from day 10.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a look of tender concern...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She seems to have an innate sweetness...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I'm going out of town tomorrow 8/23, I could be gone for around a week, but I'm hoping that my trip will only last a few days.  I'll try to keep sketching for my daily sketch challenge and I hope to post the sketches that I complete upon my return.

Here is a sketch of two tulips.  I think I have tulips on the mind right now.  I took my reference photos of them during a visit to Descanso Gardens.  They are also flowers that I may be incorporating them into the hair of a maiden I am hoping to start once I've determined which flowers will work best for her, but I have quite a few more sketches to do before that is determined...

This is a piece that I love at the Norton Simon Museum of Art.  By Pietro Antonio Rotari, a very highly successful artist of his day, I feel that this piece has such charm.  "Young Girl Writing a Love Letter" has such a sweet feeling.  These days I think letters on paper are fairly rare, but I think they are wonderful!

This week I am listing "Aphrodite," an original big eye painting of a surreal gothic art goddess of love Aphrodite Venus inspired by your votes.  I posted another version of her not too long ago, but after some consideration, I decided to change her hair a bit.  She is still available as a print with her previous hair, but this is what the original looks like now.  

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here with a theme of hummingbirds and sunflowers.  What is the link between hummingbirds and Aphrodite?  Only that I love them!
