WIP Work in Progress Big Eye Little Red Riding Hood

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye little red riding hood I've mostly finished her underpainting.  Fairytales hold a strong allure for me.  In this piece, I'm focused on her face.  I've been working on her eyes and skin tones, next I will start working on the overpainting of her hair.

Stella Im Hultberg

Hollow Resonance (Project Room) at the Thinkspace Gallery

Closed Show

When I went to "Hollow Resonance" at the Thinkspace Gallery in the Project Room, it was my first time seeing the art of artist Stella Im Hultberg.  The delicacy of her faces and flowers were extremely compelling.  I also loved the richness of her backgrounds.  She is self taught and worked with acrylics on wood for some pieces and mixed media composed of ink, watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencils on paper for this show.  The show is closed, but the gallery may have some pieces available.

I took this photograph of lotus flowers and a bridge at Huntington Gardens.  The Chinese gardens are a delight to see, there are linked ponds and beautiful pathways in addition to the lovely water lilies.  I believe that the time of the lotus lily has passed, but some of the smaller waterlilies may still be blooming.  I hope that you will enjoy the photos!

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a sweet flower headband.  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.  

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is from day 25. 

I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.  I think I will try to extend it out to a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days...

The 5th Annual Coaster Show at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery CLOSING! Original Pink Water Lily Flower Painting + Art Prints & ACEO Prints...

The 5th Annual Coaster Show at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery is comprised of 4"x4" original paintings!  Some are square, some are round (tondo), they are all 4"x4"   I'm sharing a small portion of the beautiful miniature art that's being shown, there are so many more mini lovely pieces than I'm sharing here, below is a link to all of them.  The closing is coming up on Sunday October 1 from noon to six.  It doesn't look like I will be there in person, but my art is still available.  The show information is below.
