It took me a while to figure out how I could wire a wooden plank. Some people carve into them using a special attachment for their drill, but I didn't feel confident that I could do that successfully. The solution I found was to put four small screws in and attach the wire in the direction I planned to hang the piece. The reason there are four is that I like my art to hang flush against the wall. I do the wiring prior to painting because I worry that I might crack the wood after I've already done the painting, so I try to err on the side of caution...
This is for a big eye fairy angel that I am working on the color options for right now. I finished my tiny little painting, she will be at the Whittier Art Gallery in the Miniatures and Small Works Show which runs from December 2nd to January 2nd. I'll be at the reception on Saturday and I'll post more information as well as the work in progress view of her almost complete on Friday. The gallery info is here.

Great idea to do the wiring first. Wish I could attend!
