I've started to do a little on this piece that I started last year. I should really be working on my lamb, but I'm still refining the sketch. In this original acrylic work in progress big eye Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos fantasy painting, I've done some more layers on her neck and shoulders. I'd like to move on to her face, I plan on doing most of the shading of her face with glazing, so it will start out looking a bit flat. However, as I progress with the WIP, it should hopefully improve. I'm always torn between using wet into wet shading vs. glazing, but on her face I think it makes more sense to do glazing that way her makeup will have elements of shading as well...
This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit! You also may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She seeems a little askance that she has been spotted and views us with an over the shoulder glance. I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in March. This is day 11.
This is a rough sketch.
