In this original acrylic work in progress WIP big eye gothic maiden painting I've only just transferred my sketch over and painted the edges black... I like to pick a color that complements the piece to put on the edges, but it doesn't end up being perfect as I don't fret if a bit of the paint from the painting itself goes over the edges a bit. I've tried doing the edge last, but couldn't do it cleanly enough. This way there isn't a lot of glaring white, but the painting itself is the priority.
I'll be starting with the background next. This big eye gothic beauty is inspired by Wednesday Addams of the Addams Family and she is set in a Gothic cemetery. This is an 11"x14" painting on gallery wrapped canvas.
This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit! You also may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a seed pod. I found it one day while I was taking a walk. I'm not sure what kind of a plant it's from, but it looks like the seed has already left the pod. It measures two to three inches and feels like wood. I picked it up thinking I might paint on it, but I really rather like it as it is... I doubt I'll paint it, but I did enjoy sketching it.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in June. This is day 17.
This is a rough sketch.
