"Underwater Prayer" Original 11"x14" Painting on Canvas Here
This week my featured painting is "Underwater Prayer," an original painting of a big eye Gothic mermaid near an undersea cathedral. She has huge blue eyes and lips of lilac. The piece has a surreal lowbrow fantasy feel. I love mermaids so... The original painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!
Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions... This month, my theme is sunflowers with a couple of hummingbirds midflight by some sunflowers, you may see them here.

Allusions and Allegories by JASMINE BECKET-GRIFFITH at the Corey Helford Gallery Part I
I went to see the Allusions and Allegories Exhibit by Jasmine Becket-Griffith at the Corey Helford Gallery some time ago. She is one of my favorite artists and has a wonderful facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/strangeling/. I don't always go to openings, but this artist is enormously sweet, she even took a photo with me! The show was filled with so many beautiful pieces, I really want to share them all. This is Part I of what will eventually be a three part series, I'll link them as I go. The Allusions and Allegories Exhibition is CLOSED, but the gallery may have some of this artist's works available.
Edit: Part II is here.

Art Sketch of a Big Eye Angel Fairy & Pirate, September 18 & 19 Daily Sketches
Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden. She has a sweet sideways glance. I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her. I'm hoping to paint her at some point.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is from day 18.
I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September. I think I will try to extend it out to a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days...
This is a rough sketch.
Ahoy mateys! Here be a sketch 'o a big eyed maiden. In honor o' International Talk Like a Pirate Day I have sketched this bonnie pirate lass... I be unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did heartily enjoy sketchin' her.
