"Moonrise" Original 16"x20" Painting on Canvas here
This week my featured painting is "Moonrise," an original big eye black ghost painting. I painted it for Diversity and Inclusion: The Influence of African-American Art in Southern California at the Ontario Museum of Art Exhibit. She was inspired by a folktale. I loved painting her fluffy hair. This original painting is available as are art prints and LE ACEO prints! The art has a painterly lowbrow surreal feel...
When I started painting people, I made them mostly blue or purple. Alex Ledante, an artist I respect very much, encouraged me to try natural skin tones. There is so much beauty in the range of our skins. I think all skin tones are lovely and no one should be treated differently based on what theirs is.
Most of my art is also available on my website at lisabellarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions... This month, my theme is sunflowers, but there are more than solely flowers to see. If you would like to take a look; you may see them here.

Your painting is beautiful. Yes, black lives matter. This week has been such an awful one for America. I hope and pray that the November elections will bring a change. Stay safe! Hugs Valerie
Liza she is so striking. I love that hair and the eye lashes. Very appropriate. I have always admired the skin colors and tones that you have used. You are so talented and you have inspired me over the years. Thank you. This is my first garden and I am very excited about it. Oh I have grown things in the past but this is my first real garden. Next year I will do things differently, a learning curve for sure. I hope things are well in your part of the world.
This is lovely Lisa.
She is beautiful, soft and gentle with a air of kindness, those spots of light make her eyes shine wider than ever. It is so important as an artist to use a variety of colour within our artwork work and never forget with our portraiture work too, it helps us learn so much about shade and contrast. Diversity is a wonderful thing that should be embraced.. I'm so glad you shared her today. Take care & stay safe, creative wishes Tracey xx
This is a lovely painting.
All the best Jan
