WIP Peacock Feather Study Art Original Painting + September Sketches, Sketch 15, Big Eye Mermaid...

In this original acrylic painting of a peacock feather study, the core is gold leaf and the lighter feathers are painted against a dark background.  I think I should be able to use this technique with a more delicate touch for a peacock painting I am working on as well as the peacock with the Greek goddess Hera that I am working on the drawings for.  The canvas that I painted this rough study on is 5"x7"...

This is a rough study, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has long hair that cascades around her...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in September. This is day 15.

I am also participating in the September 29 Faces Challenge! The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.  I think I will try to extend it out to a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days...

This is a rough sketch.

that feather may be a rough study but it is beautiful-and I love the touch of gold leaf. I just finished a card using feathers and some gold leaf-I'll be posting it soon:) Happy PPF!

There are peacocks that live in my neighborhood so I see them frequently. You'd think their feathers would be lying around by they are not. Your painting is beautiful as is your sketch.

I think your feather looks great and the colours you've used are very effective against the black background.

All the best Jan
