In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of an idealized big eye version of myself, I've started working on the roses. I have quite a few left to go and then I may revisit some of them; I think the roses will be a combination of wet into wet and layering. I think this is the mermaid version of me... I'm saving the highlights in the eyes until last.
This idealized big eyed self portrait is on a 16"x20" canvas in acrylics.
This is a work in progress, but I also usually post at least one finished piece on Tuesdays if you'd like to come to visit! You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden. She is gently asleep... I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.
I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January. This is from day 26.
This is a rough sketch.
Here is a sketch of two sweet pea blossoms. The flowers are in various stages of blooming... I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden. She looks a little afraid, but worry not, all is fine... I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess. I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

All the best Jan
the painting is coming together nicely :) great colours for the flowers
sleeping beauty and the last maiden looks very mysterious to me with her hair covering half hr face :)
Your self portrait is fabulous, I love your attention to detail. Great sketches, as always, I love the different expressions and positions. Have a great week, hug, Valerie
Lisa,
I love seeing your charcoal sketches of your big-eyed girls. You inspire me! After finding you last week or was it the week before I began drawing my own "big-eye girls". The eyes are the hardest. I'm no were in your league to compete with your talent but it sure nice to try to mimic your style. Happy sketching!
Thanks so much Christine, Jan, Jennifer, Valerie, and Cathy! They're actually pencil sketches, I darken them a bit in photoshop as I tend to sketch lightly...
I love this painting of you Lisa! Stunning! Can't wait to see it finished!
Gorgeous sketches!!
Big Hugs!
Thanks so very much Stacy!
