This week my featured painting is "Clever Monkey," an original golden snub nosed monkey painting.  The year of the monkey is drawing to a close, soon it will be the year of the rooster...  This is last year's painting inspired by the Chinese New Year Zodiac animals.  I will try to finish a small rooster painting for this year.  This original animal painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  The art has a realist impressionist feel...

I haven't yet painted every animal of the Zodiac and one of my Western dragons has snuck in, but it is a project I am working on slowly...  Some of these animals I've painted more of than are indicated in this grouping, they may be found on my website; with some available as originals and prints, with some only as prints...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She is drifting in sweet repose with her little hat atop her head; in retrospect, I think I should have given her a pillow to soften her rest...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a goddess or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January.  This is day 3.

I am listing "Clever Monkey," an original monkey painting.  This big golden snub nosed monkey has a blue face surrounded by warm golden fur and a thoughtful expression.  I painted him in honor of Chinese New Year.  The art has a soft realist impressionist feel...  I am also listing my original ram sheep painting here.

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here this week from Tuesday to Tuesday with a theme of animals of the zodiac, I have additional horses and rabbits on my website, but I have chosen these for this week's auctions...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  Her skin is ever so pale and freckles dance across her face.  I think she is most likely an mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.   

She is face 2 for 29 faces in February!  The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of February. 

WIP Snub Nosed Monkey Animal Art Original Painting Work in Progress...

In this original acrylic work in progress golden snub nosed monkey painting, I've worked some more on his face.  I've also started on his golden orange fur in his body in this wip.  These monkeys are amazing, they actually have these colors in their faces and fur!  Animals can be so incredible.  I'm hoping to have this little guy done for Tuesday.  According to my calendar, Chinese New Year starts on February 8th and this will be the year of the monkey...  It is celebrated for weeks also, which I think is wonderful!

WIP Snub Nosed Monkey Animal Art Original Painting Work in Progress...

In this original acrylic work in progress golden snub nosed monkey painting, I've blocked in the eyes.  So much further to go on this wip!  I'd hoped to do more yesterday, but it turned into more of an errands day than an art day...  Hopefully today will be better.  These monkeys have the most amazing colors in their faces and fur, I love painting animals!

Golden Snub Nosed Monkey Sketch Art...

Here is a sketch of a golden snub nosed monkey.  They are native to China.  In honor of Chinese New Year, I like to paint the zodiac animal of the year.  This year it will be the monkey.  As usual I'm getting a bit of a late start, but I am hoping to finish on time!
