Original Happy Little Piglet Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Celebrating the New Lunar Year of the Earth Pig/Boar Exhibition (Closed Show)...

"Fortune Smiles" Original 5"x7" Painting on Panel here

This week my featured painting is "Fortune Smiles," an original piglet painting.  I painted it in honor of Chinese New Year...  Year of the pig is winding to an end and I realized I had yet to add my happy piglet to my website!  This original boar painting is available as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  The art has a painterly realist impressionist feel...

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisabellarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme will be Chinese Zodiac animals, however I am still working on my rat painting, so I have delayed my usual launch until after the completion of the painting.  There are still some of my favorites listed, mermaids, and winter and Christmas themed art if you would like to take a look; you may see them here.

February 2nd through March 17th 2019

Upon reflection, I also realized that I had yet to share my pictures from the show "Celebrating the New Lunar Year of the Earth Pig/Boar" I participated in!  Since year of the pig is fast changing to year of the rat, I decided to remedy that situation!   I think last year I managed an earlier start to my Chinese Zodiac inspired painting than I have to my rat.  Although I greatly enjoyed the exhibit and the art at The Realm/Ministry of Culture Art Salon Chinatown's exhibition, I think I'm a bit too far behind to see if they're having a show this year, but I hope that you will enjoy these boars from some of the artists who participated last year as well as my happy little piglet.

This week my featured painting is "Fortune Smiles."  This little piglet was painted in honor of Chinese New Year...  Since the year of the horse I have been painting a small painting a year to honor the lunar new year, I haven't painted them all yet, but I have been creating one for each year as we go.  Year of the Pig/Boar was a joy to paint.  The art has a realist impressionist feel to the style.

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is Chinese Zodiac Animals (although a Western dragon has sneaked in), you may see them here.

WIP Work in Progress View of "Fortune Smiles"

In this original wip work in progress acrylic painting of a piglet, I have finished the underpainting.  This is not the completed version, but one of the steps along the way, the original completed painting is available at the Realm/Ministry of Culture Zodiac: Year of the Boar Exhibit at the Art Salon Chinatown until March 17th...  The panel that I'm painted on is 7"x5" and I intend to release the prints and an image of the framed original next week.  Please contact me if you'd like a preview of the finished piece, my little piggy gets more pink and nuanced in the pig's state of completion.

This is a work in progress, but I also post finished pieces here as well if you'd like to come to visit!  You also may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

January 10-23 Sketches

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January. They are all rough sketches.  I'm quite a bit behind in sharing my daily sketches, so I've grouped the images in groups so it isn't quite so overwhelming.  You may see them individually on facebook here.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Day 10:  Here is a sketch of an orchid.  There are so many lovely variations of this flower...
Day 11:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  I think she has seen much of the world...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.
Day 12:  Here is a sketch of a geranium.  They are so vibrant and lovely...
Day 13:  Here is a sketch of an anthurium.  They are a joy to sketch...
Day 14:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a moodiness to her demeanor...  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.

Day 15:  Here is a sketch of a calla lily.  There is a purity and grace to these flowers...
Day 16:  Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has an expression of wonder.  I think she is most likely a goddess, although she could also be a fairy angel or a mermaid.
Day 17:  Here is a sketch of a tulip.  I love tulips...
Day 18:  Here is a sketch of gloxinia flower.  I'm not sure if I've seen one of these in person...
Day 19:  Here is a sketch of a hibiscus.  I love the flower's joyful quality...

Day 20:  Here is a sketch of a daisy.  Daisies are such sweet flowers...
Day 21:  Here is a sketch of a lovebird.  This is lovebird one of three potential lovebirds that I will decide amongst to paint.  Here I am exploring standard proportions, but I may redraw them to explore a more chibi look.
Day 22:  Here is a sketch of a lovebird.  This is lovebird one of three potential lovebirds that I will decide amongst to paint.  Here I am exploring standard proportions, but I may redraw them to explore a more chibi look.
