WIP Work in Progress! Original Big Eye Scarecrow Painting...

This is the start of this big eye scarecrow painting, I'm working on her for Halloween, but I may not finish in time as I've embarked on a massive household project...  The original painting is 11"x14" duo oils on wood.  At this point in the wip work in progress, I've worked mainly on the background.  I think the next steps will be to continue on to underpainting...

Sketch Line Art Drawing for my Dia de los Muertos Day of the Dead Piece

This is the sketch I submitted for the Ontario Museum of Art Show Día de los Muertos: Recuerdos de Sabores/Flavorful Memories Exhibit.  The theme was memories and food and I decided on a whimsical headress of pan dulce that was composed of sweet bread that I shared with my grandparents on the head of a maiden kissed by her ancestor.

I plan on sharing some work in progress views of the piece as well as the finished piece on Dia de los Muertos, but if you'd like to see the original completed painting in person, it's up at the museum.  The information is below.

WIP Work in Progress! Original Big Eye Latina Mermaid Painting...

This is layer two of the underpainting of this big eye Latina mermaid...  The original painting is 16"x20" duo oils on wood.  At this point in the wip work in progress, I've worked on the rocks as well.  I think I will give her at least one more underpainting layer before I proceed with the next layers...

WIP Work in Progress! Original Chibi Lovebird Bird on Sakura Cherry Blossom Branch Painting...

Behind, but not forgotten!  Here is a WIP work in progress image of this original chibi lovebird bird on a sakura cherry blossom branch painting.  It is 5"7" on canvas and is being painted in duo oils.  It's been a while since I've made any progress on this painting, but it is not forgotten.  I need to work on the flowers and some details on the bird still, but it is coming along...

Mermay! Original WIP Work in Progress Mermaid Painting...

May has slipped away from me or perhaps skudded past me, it's been a busy month.  Unfortunately I haven't finished my mermay painting, but I will continue to work on her...  The original painting is 16"x20" duo oils on wood.  At this point in the wip work in progress, I've been working on the background.  My next step is to try texturing the rocks with a fun sponge that I have, I'm looking forward to it...

Happy Mother's Day! Photograph of Blue Flowers at Huntington Gardens...

I took this photograph of blue flowers at Huntington Gardens on my most recent visit with my mother.  I believe this blue-green flower is a rare bromeliad from Chile called Puya alpestris that blooms in the spring in the Desert Garden.  Mother's Day is a special day to celebrate one of our most precious family members and friends, but it is also shared moments that draw us together.  Many thanks to my mother for being with me.
