Chow Chow Dog Art Original Painting Work in Progress WIP + 29 Faces, Big Eye Face 4...

Here is where I am on my original 8"x10" chow chow dog painting.  I have been working on her fur in this work in progress.  Due to how quicky acrylics dry, I work wet into wet, section by section.  As I continue on this wip, I'll add some subtle details later, this is the blocking in stage.  I love animals and I find them a joy to paint...

I'm joining in this week with Paint Party Friday.  To see more participants, please visit:

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a bit of a mischievous look.  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be mermaid or goddess.   I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

She is face 4 for 29 faces in September.  The goal is to share 29 faces in the month of September.

Nice start to the dog :) Have you ever tried using mediums with acrylics to help with the drying?

I love both pieces. It will be fun to see what the first turns out like, and I love your maiden's big eyes.

Thanks so very very much! Jennifer, I've bought some slow dry mediums, but I've yet to give them a try, they seem to need a very delicate ratio...

it really depends a lot of the quality of the acrylics you are using. might need more medium with cheaper acrylics

I use golden or liquitex artist grade, but I've read the instructions and if you add too much it alters the composition of the paints... It's something I may play with eventually, but right now working in small sections works for me.
