This is layer two of the underpainting of this big eye Latina mermaid... The original painting is 16"x20" duo oils on wood. At this point in the wip work in progress, I've worked on the rocks as well. I think I will give her at least one more underpainting layer before I proceed with the next layers...
Behind, but not forgotten! Here is a WIP work in progress image of this original chibi lovebird bird on a sakura cherry blossom branch painting. It is 5"7" on canvas and is being painted in duo oils. It's been a while since I've made any progress on this painting, but it is not forgotten. I need to work on the flowers and some details on the bird still, but it is coming along...
May has slipped away from me or perhaps skudded past me, it's been a busy month. Unfortunately I haven't finished my mermay painting, but I will continue to work on her... The original painting is 16"x20" duo oils on wood. At this point in the wip work in progress, I've been working on the background. My next step is to try texturing the rocks with a fun sponge that I have, I'm looking forward to it...
I took this photograph of blue flowers at Huntington Gardens on my most recent visit with my mother. I believe this blue-green flower is a rare bromeliad from Chile called Puya alpestris that blooms in the spring in the Desert Garden. Mother's Day is a special day to celebrate one of our most precious family members and friends, but it is also shared moments that draw us together. Many thanks to my mother for being with me.
I painted this fluffy red chow chow dog painting some time ago as a gift for Alex's mother. The original painting is 8"x10" acrylics on panel. She seemed a fitting image to celebrate National Pet Month with...
I've completed my porg painting. Lately I don't always know the titles to my paintings, but this one is clearly, "Do Not Eat Me." The original painting is 4"x4" duo oils on wood. I painted this little one for Star Wars Day. May the 4th be with you...
These sketches are very rough, I haven't refined them much at all. They're the glimmer of ideas... I'm thinking about doing a new mermaid painting for Mermay, I think the one in the lower left corner with the larger face above will be the seed of that. I wanted to share the idea phase of this project...
In this porg wip work in progress, I have sketched in the porg and blocked in the background. The original painting is 4"x4" duo oils on wood. I am painting this little one for Star Wars Day. May the 4th be with you...
One of my favorite artists is Annie Stegg Gerard and she's having a Spring Sale in her shop https://www.gallerygerard.com/store until April 28th. I bought these two bunny prints and a set of her dragon postcards. The prints were shipped flat and signed at no additional cost. She's the most incredible artist, if you have a chance, take a look...
Wishing you a happy Lunar New Year! Every year for Chinese New Year, I try to present artwork of the year's Zodiac animal, this time,...
