This week my featured painting is "Lisianthus Beauties."  These light lilac flowers captured my imagination when I photographed them at Huntington Gardens.  The art has a soft realist impressionist feel.  The original lisianthus floral acrylic painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

Rough Sketches of Some Orchid Flowers / Art Sketch Daily

So, whilst I've continued to sketch daily, I haven't been posting each and every sketch, but here are some of my sketches of an assortment of these lovely flowers.  I think my next flower painting may be an orchid, there are so many lovely variations!  Orchids are one of my favorite flowers...

Sketch of a Big Eye Mermaid, Showy Orchids, & Angel Fairy/ January 12, 13, & 14 Art Sketches Daily...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She has a beguiling expression...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in January. This is from day 12.

Here is a sketch of some showy orchids.  Orchid flowers have such an amazing diversity of looks...  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

WIP Flapjack Octopus Art Original Painting Work in Progress + July Sketches, Sketch 21, Orchid Flower...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a flapjack octopus I've done a bit of work on his eyes and started painting him.  I still have more shading to do before I consider some other aspects.  The panel that I'm painting on is 4"x4"...

Here is a sketch of an orchid flower.  I love the wide variance in the forms of orchids, there is such a range.  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it.

I took this photograph of this emerald green hummingbird at Descanso Gardens.  I am unsure of the name of the white flowers it is drinking from, but it liked them a lot.  Hummingbirds move so very fast that I feel very lucky when I capture one on camera.  They are always a joy to me to see... I took this photograph of a yellow orchid at Huntington Gardens in the greenhouse.  I love how the light is shining through the petals, orchids are one of my favorite flowers, they are so inspiring and have such beauty and diversity.  I think this one looks like it is reaching out for a hug...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo! 

Here is a sketch of a big eye gothic maiden.  Although they rarely occur in my art, I'm a big fan of hats!  This fairy angel has a serious and contemplative quality.  I'm not sure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I am listing "Red Abundance," an original painting of a red orchid.  Orchids have such a diversity of form, they are one of my favorite flowers in part for that reason.  I think this is my first time listing this piece, I painted it initially for a small works show at Elon and recently found it.  The art has a realist impressionist feel...

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here this week from Tuesday to Tuesday with a theme of tropical flowers.

This photograph is of a grouping of yellow and red orchids.  They were grown by Alex's former neighbors.  I thought they were quite beautiful.  Orchids are one of my favorite flowers.  I hope you will enjoy this photo...

Orchids at the Bank Photograph & 29 Faces 18...

I'll bet you thought that I never go anywhere besides art museums and gardens...  Well, that's usually the case, but sometimes I do venture out to other places.  These orchids were a new addition to the lobby at the bank and I thought they were lovely.  I also like the flower blooming below them, but I'm not sure what the name of it is.
