Original Lisianthus Flowers Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! Rough Sketches of Some Orchids...

"Lisianthus Beauties" Original 4"x3.5" Painting on Acid Free Vellum Paper in a 5.25"x4.75" Frame Here

This week my featured painting is "Lisianthus Beauties."  These light lilac flowers captured my imagination when I photographed them at Huntington Gardens.  The art has a soft realist impressionist feel.  The original lisianthus floral acrylic painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!

If you'd like to see some of my process for this painting, I've shared my shared some of the steps from sketch to final version here.

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisabellarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is cats and dogs; you may see them here.

Rough Sketches of Some Orchid Flowers / Art Sketch Daily

So, whilst I've continued to sketch daily, I haven't been posting each and every sketch, but here are some of my sketches of an assortment of these lovely flowers.  I think my next flower painting may be an orchid, there are so many lovely variations!  Orchids are one of my favorite flowers...

These are rough sketches, but you may see some of my completed floral paintings here if you'd like.

My Photograph of White Lisianthus Flowers at Huntington Gardens + Art Sketches, November 6, 7, & 8/ Big Eye Angel, Mermaid, & Fairy Daily Sketch...

I took this photograph of these white lisianthus flowers at Huntington Gardens some time ago.  They are not presently blooming, but I loved the beauty of their grouped blossoms.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint flowers, you may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed maiden.  She seems to be quite peaceful...  I think she is most likely an angel fairy, although she could also be a mermaid or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in November. This from day 6.

I would like to try to reach a goal of 100 faces sketched on consecutive days, I started this effort on September 1st, 2017...  This is face 67.

This is a rough sketch.

Original Lisianthus Flowers Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! "A Celebration of Life and Love" Dia de los Muertos Exhibit...

"A Celebration of Life and Love"

Dia de los Muertos is to me a celebration of life and honoring those we have lost.  There is a great allure and solace in the love we share and this inspires me to express my joy in paint.  Eyes are the window to the truth of what is within, my big eyed calavera catrina beauties are how I share this love.  I was honored to participate in "A Celebration of Life and Love" at the San Juan Capistrano Library.

Some of the artwork I photographed at the show is here, I also saw some amazing Aztec dancers, but I will endeavor to share that another day...

Here is a sketch of a big eyed gothic maiden.  She has a hat of many flowers and a considering gaze.  I think she is most likely a fairy angel, although she could also be a goddess or a mermaid.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.   She is in my tiny sketchbook that measures 3.5x5.5 inches.  I am using Col-Erase Prismacolor pencils, I like having the option to erase a bit.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in November.  This is day 27.  It is my 300th day of consecutive sketching since February 1st...

This is a sketch in colored pencils.  You may see some of my finished paintings at lisarusso.com if you'd like.  I'm not really a colored pencil artist but I am exploring something new for the sketchbook.  I will be juxtaposing my usual rough sketches with the colored pencil sketches at varying intervals.  I tend to sketch very lightly, so these and my usual pencil ones are darkened a bit in photoshop for online viewing.

I am also participating in Sunday Sketches.  To view more Sunday Sketches, please visit:

WIP Lisianthus Flowers Art Original Painting Work in Progress + November Sketches, Sketch 23, Barred Owl...

In this original 4"x3.5" work in progress WIP acrylic painting of lisianthus flowers, I've laid in the flower petals.  I still have to paint the flowers' cores as well as some touch ups, but I feel close enough to completion to share that this painting will be included in the December Miniatures and Small Works Exhibit at the Whittier Art Gallery.  It's a tiny little painting on vellum paper that will go in a tiny little frame...  Once I've finished and have framed it, I'll try to post an image this Sunday before I deliver it.
