Sketchbook West Las Laguna Gallery Show Opening + Sketch of Stargazer Lily Flower, April 6 Art Sketches Daily...

The Sketchbook West Exhibition at Las Laguna Gallery opens today!  I intend to be there towards the end of the opening.  My Wednesday Addams inspired painting "Full of Woe" was selected to be featured at the Sketchbook West Las Laguna Gallery Show.  This is the corresponding sketch in my tiny sketchbook that measures 3.5x5.5 inches.  The sketchbook will be displayed at the Sketchbook West Exhibition along with the sketchbooks of additional artists.  There will be a mix of fantasy, floral, animal, and assorted sketches within my sketchbook.  I very much enjoy looking at artist's sketches, so I am looking forward to seeing the show!

Here is a sketch of a stargazer lily flower.  These flowers have such a gentle elegance.  I'm unsure if I'll paint it or not, but I did enjoy sketching it...

I took this photograph of this fringed double bloom tulip at Descanso Gardens during a recent visit.  I go a little photo nuts when I visit the gardens, I love flowers so much and I don't have any type of green in my thumb...  I'm not sure how long the tulips will be in bloom though.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

This week my featured painting is "Found Lamb".  I think she's perfect for Easter or anytime of year with her flufffy cuteness.  She has been safely found by Little Bo Peep and is ready to rejoin the flock.  The original big eye sheep painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is spring and includes a selection of my flowers as well as some bunny rabbits in addition to the lamb; you may see them here.   I've also added in "Lilac Rosebud."

WIP Big Eye Fairy Angel Waterlily Art Original Painting Work in Progress + April Sketches, Sketch 3, Wisteria Flowers...

In this original work in progress WIP big eye maiden painting I've made progress on her skin tones.  I've also worked on her eyebrows, eyelashes, and lips...  This fairytale angel fairy with water lilies in her hair will be Snow White when she's complete.

This big eyed beauty is on an 8"x10" canvas in acrylics.

Here is a sketch of a large grouping of wisteria flowers.  I've been wanting to sketch these flowers for a while.  They are more options for a fairy angel's hair, I think I have enough now to begin putting together possibilities for one of the maidens I need flowers for...

My Wednesday Addams inspired painting "Full of Woe" was selected to be featured at the Sketchbook West Las Laguna Gallery Show.  Here she is all framed and ready to go!

She has a corresponding sketch in my tiny sketchbook that measures 3.5x5.5 inches.  I've shared some of the sketches that are within here, but some will be available for viewing for the first time at the show.  The sketchbook will be displayed at the Sketchbook West Exhibition along with the sketchbooks of additional artists.  There will be a mix of fantasy, floral, animal, and assorted sketches within my sketchbook.  The gallery will have white gloves available for looking through the sketchbooks.  I'm hoping to be at the opening, but I will also update at what time I will be there when I have a better idea of when that will be.  I very much enjoy looking at artist's sketches, so I am looking forward to seeing the show!

I took this photograph of these bi-color tulips at Descanso Gardens during my most recent visit.  There were so many beautiful tulips, they are such a joyful flower.  I'm not sure how long they'll be in bloom though...  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

This week my featured painting is "Twirls and Curls," an original painting of a big eye blue haired mermaid with two tiny angelfish friends. She has huge inquisitive blue eyes. The piece has a surreal lowbrow fantasy feel. Here is a sketch of some flowers.  This is another branch or stem from the same flower I've sketched before, but I don't know the name of them...  I think they may likely be for the hair of a maiden, I still need to sketch a few more though to determine which ones best suit her...
