Most of my art is also available on my website at http://www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to offer some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions...  I have started at updating and adding payment buttons to my website.  It's a very slow project, but one I hope to focus on.

A Photograph of a Blue Fairy and a Pink Fairy at Descanso Gardens...

I usually list on Tuesdays, but I had something else come up.  I may list tomorrow instead, but here are some fairies that were wandering around Descanso Gardens.  I'm not certain what event they were there for, Descanso Gardens often hosts events for children.  Although I'm not a child, I enjoyed glimpsing this blue fairy and her pink fairy friend as they went by...

Mermaid, Angel, or Fairy Sketch...

I'm not really certain if this one wants to be a mermaid, angel, or fairy.  She's definitely magical, but I'm not sure in what way.  I was drawn to sketch her by her long red hair.  I'm not sure if I'll take this one any further, but she was fun to draw...

When I said facebook may be planning on charging for every post to be read, I didn't mean it would be charging the viewers.  Facebook has paid advertising as an option to "boost" individual posts and to promote the page to get more Likes that it is the option for the person who creates the page to use.  It remains free for people to view the facebook page.  Right now they share some of the posts to people who "like" the page for free, that may be going away and if it does people who create the page may have to pay to be seen in people's feed at all...  Sorry for any confusion...

Alexandra of Sunday Sketches was in a car accident and won't be hosting this week.  My thoughts are with her and I hope she feels better soon.

A Photograph of Some Roses From Huntington Gardens & a Google+ Question...

I took this photograph outside of Huntington Gardens.  They have these beautiful rose bushes lining the path to the entrance to the gardens.  Yesterday I went to their plant sale in search of some more native California plants that will hopefully attract more hummingbirds and butterflies to our garden.  We bought a few plants, I hope they make it (I'm not much of a gardener).

I've been wondering about Google+, what are your thoughts on it?  I also have a facebook page that is almost identical to my blog, but it gets more traffic.  I've heard facebook is planning on making it so that if you want your page entries to be seen at all, you have to pay for it.  Right now it's a little bit different than that.  Paying does help with greater visibility, but there is some visibility even if you don't pay.  I don't mind paying something for some of my posts, but not so much for certain types of posts like sketches or works in progress or photographs...  I've heard Google+ may be the next thing, any thoughts?

Thanks for your kind words on my headache, it has improved, I think it may have been the shifts in weather we were having...

Two Bunnies Wishing You a Happy Easter &/or Spring...

These two bunnies would like to wish you a happy Easter &/or Spring!  I photographed them at Descanso Gardens, usually wild rabbits are pretty difficult to shoot, they scamper off at the soonest possibility, but these two were engrossed in their meal!

Edit: I forgot to say, I'll post my Loch Ness Monster original ACEO on Tuesday...

Loch Ness Monster Sketches...

Here are my sketches for a small original ACEO painting I am working on.  In keeping with the theme of Sea Monsters for Nibblefest, I've decided to paint the Loch Ness Monster.  I sketched out a few ideas and I've decided to go for the sketch with the green dot.  If you're a South Park fan, you know Nessie is always angling for $3.50...  Why tree fiddy is what the Loch Ness Monster wants is anybody's guess...

NFAC starts on the 20th of ever month and all auctions start at 99c no reserve, this month it's on Easter Sunday, I haven't decided yet if I should list this for the full seven days starting on Sunday or wait until Tuesday and do a 5 day auction...

Waterlily Fairy Maiden Painting Work in Progress as I Begin Her Face...

Here is another work in progress view of my waterlily fairy maiden.  This is the second layer on her face, the first was just base tone.  I intend to do more layers of blending on her face to soften the transitions before I proceed to her eyebrows, eyelashes, and lips.  She is part of my garden guardian series.

Pink & White Tulip, a Spring Flower from Descanso Gardens...

This pink and white tulip was blooming at Descanso Gardens a while ago, I'm not sure if they currently have any tulips blooming so if you're stopping by to visit the tulips, I suggest calling them in advance of your visit.  I took many photographs of the tulips in their gardens, this is one of the first ones.  Spring flowers are so beautiful!

Edit: Descanso Gardens replied to my tweet about this post to let me know that tulips are indeed out of season now at Descanso Gardens.  They are such a fleeting beauty, but so lovely!

Spring by Lawrence Alma-Tadema at the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art & Bunny Rabbit Painting WIP...

Ever since I was a child, I have loved this painting.  Whenever I visit the J. Paul Getty Museum of Art, I make every effort to see it.  Here Lawrence Alma-Tadema is showing the tradition of children being sent to gather flowers on May 1st.  It was a Victorian May Day tradition that he staged in a Roman festival setting.  In person, it is a long tall painting that's filled with grace in every inch.  I've included the full painting and some close up views, I hope you will enjoy it!

I am linking this post with Inspire Me Monday

I've started painting my bunny rabbit that was voted upon.  In this work in progress view, I've blocked in the background and started on the bunny.  I may need to go back in a rework the background a bit.  It's interesting how I see things differently when I see them on the computer screen...

Waterlily Fairy Maiden Work in Progress Continues...

Here is another work in progress view of my waterlily fairy maiden.  I've worked on her neck a bit and I've futzed a bit with the shading on her hand.  I think I am more pleased with it now, but we'll see how I feel as the painting progresses.  I do not have a title for her yet, but she is part of my garden guardian series.

Tomorrow I will try to post an update on the bunny painting.

Revised Bunny Rabbit Sketch...

This is my revised sketch for the bunny that was voted upon.  His eyes are a little bigger and his cheeks are a little fluffier.  I've also given him a tree with some ivy growing up the trunk to hide behind instead of the plank that was in the reference photo.

California Snowball, a Fragrant Snowball Flower Plant at Huntington Gardens...

This plant was blooming in the parking lot at Huntington Gardens in California.  Officially called Viburnum X Carlcephalum, the "Fragrant Snowball" flower plant was beautiful to me, I hope you will enjoy seeing it.  For those of you still waiting for spring, I also hope it comes to you as soon as it can!

Original White Bunny Rabbit Painting & Harvestman Spider Too! Art Prints & ACEOs!

This Week "Snowy Bunny" Original 8"x10" Painting here
8"x10" print here
ACEO 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition LE 1st of 25 here

This week I am listing "Snowy Bunny," an original white winter bunny rabbit that's just as ready for spring and Easter as you are!  Although bunnies are often considered garden pests, I love them bunches.  I'm starting to rework my initial sketch for the bunny that was voted for.

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here with a theme of garden friends.

Most of my art is also available on my website at http://www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to offer some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions...  I am just getting started at updating and adding payment buttons to my website.  It's a very slow project, but one I hope to focus on.

This Week "Harvestman" Original 5"x7" Painting here
5"x7" print here
ACEO 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition LE 1st of 25 here

Here is "Harvestman" my eight legged steampunk arachnid painting.  It is the one that was voted for a while back, he took me far longer then I expected, so many legs!  It turns out this arachnid is actually an Opilione harvestmen, as are daddy longlegs, and not a spider.  Apparently spiders have more eyes, amongst other differences...  I usually only list one original per week, but this time I decided to list two!

Some Seashell Sketches For a Mermaid's Hair...

These seashells are for a mermaid's hair.  I'm not sure which ones I'll use and in which configuration.  I'm still working on the final sketch of the mermaid at this point, but thanks to the wonders of photoshop, I can try different variations on her once I have her finished.

I apologize for my infrequent posting these days, I'm a bit off of my schedule, but hopefully after this week things will start to resume to normal...

I also have additional giclee art and ACEO prints here with a theme of hummingbirds and sunflowers.  What is the link between hummingbirds and Aphrodite?  Only that I love them!

Most of my art is also available on my website at http://www.lisarusso.com; however, I like to offer some art on ebay at a lower promotional start rate for the duration of the auctions...  I am just getting started at updating and adding payment buttons to my website.  It's a very slow project, but one I hope to focus on.
