My Photograph of Otters & Pirhanhas at the Los Angeles Zoo + April Sketches Art, Day 20, Mermaid...

I took this photograph of these giant river otters and pirhana fish at the Los Angeles Zoo.  There's a layer of glass, then the fish, then another layer of glass, so the fish are quite safe and the otters seemed fascinated to them.  The person who worked there said they usually ignore the fish, but they were definitely not ignoring them the day I visited...  I wanted to get some photographs of them going down the water slide, apparently they love it, but they were more interested in the fish this time!  I read that these otters have a very strong family bond and they definitely seemed to enjoy being together.  I hope that you will enjoy this photo!

I love to paint animals, you may see some of my finished paintings at www.lisarusso.com if you'd like.

Here is a sketch of a big eyed Gothic maiden.  She wears an antique key around her neck that opens her treasure box and her hair floats gently around her...  I think she is most likely a mermaid, although she could also be a fairy angel or a goddess.  I'm unsure if I'll paint her or not, but I did enjoy sketching her.

I've decided to try and do a sketch a day in April.  This is day 20.

This is a rough sketch.
