WIP Big Eye Self Portrait Art Original Painting Work in Progress + November Sketches, Sketch 4 & 5, Fairy & Angel...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of an idealized big eye version of myself, I've been working on the features and the blouse.  I'm going to move on to hair, but I intend to revisit shading in the face once I've established the hair.  I think this is the mermaid version of me, MerMe, tee hee...  I'm saving the highlights in the eyes until last.

This idealized (or perhaps eye-dealized, I may be in a bit of a silly mood today) big eyed self portrait is on a 16"x20" canvas in acrylics.

This week my featured painting is "Remembrance," a Day of the Dead sugar skull katrina with red roses in her hair. This original big eye gothic angel fairy painting is currently available framed at the Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead San Juan Capistrano Library until November 30th after which the original unframed painting will return to my website at the link above, if interested before her possible return, please contact me regarding availability.  Currently art prints and LE ACEO prints are available on my website.  

This is one of my three paintings included in the Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead San Juan Capistrano Library show curated by Skye Amber Sweet.  Exhibit details are below.

Gallery / Library hours to view art outside reception date is as followed:

The date of our Day of the Dead event and reception is Saturday, 11/4.  The exhibit and festival will include Aztec dancers, free face painting, ballet folklorico, mariachis, sugar skull making along with other crafts, poetry, and possibly live painting.  The bulk of that entertainment will be between 1:00p - 3:00p.

Alex Ledante also has works in the show and we will strive to be at the reception.  Please coordinate with us if you'd like to meet there...

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, on the first Tuesday of the month, I like to put some art prints and LE ACEO prints on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions...  This month, my theme is is Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, with a bit of Wednesday thrown in; you may see them here however these auctions will end on Thursday, so if you'd like the sale rate, the clock is ticking...

WIP Big Eye Self Portrait Art Original Painting Work in Progress + October Sketches, Sketch 28 & 29, Goddess & Fairy...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of an idealized big eye version of myself, I've been working on the background and have started on the eyes.  I spent much a day sketching the flowers that surround me but I have quite a ways to go before I paint them.  I wanted to give a fantasy feel of roses floating around me.

WIP Big Eye Ghost Art Original Painting Work in Progress + October Sketches, Sketch 25, 26, & 27/ Big Eye Mermaid, Goddess, & Fairy...

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye ghost.  I've worked on her chemise, her shading, fixed her nose, and painted her features...  I'd like to add in some drips with her eye makeup soon and I'm excited to do some experiments on my test canvas for her hair.  "Moonrise" is inspired by an African American folktale "I Know Moonrise" as retold by S.E. Schlosser.  She drowned in the marsh and longs for her family.

Original Marigold Flowers Painting! Art Prints & ACEO Prints! October Sketches...

"Encantadoras (Enchanting)" Original 8"x8" Painting on Canvas Here

This week my featured painting is "Encantadoras (Enchanting)".  These bright orange flowers are often featured in Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead celebrations. The original marigold floral painting is available for purchase on my website as are art prints and LE ACEO prints!  The art has an impressionist realist feel.

On the 1st Tuesday of the month I list some prints at a sale rate for 30 days  The theme this month is Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, with a bit of Wednesday thrown in, but this time the auctions will go dark before the next 1st Tuesday, so I'm listing this one as a sale print and LE ACEO as a bridge...  There will be additional art available as open edition giclee art and LE ACEO prints here next 1st Tuesday.

Most of my art is also available on my website at lisarusso.com; however, I like to put some art on ebay at a lower promotional rate for the duration of the auctions... I have been updating my website. It's an ongoing project, but there is now an excellent selection of art available!

In this original acrylic work in progress WIP painting of a big eye ghost.  I've started on her shading, but I still have a ways to go.  I've started on her chemise, but it will also need shading at some point.  I also seem to have given her more of a front facing nose than a three quarter nose so I'll have to adjust her nose before I go much further...  She is inspired by an African American folktale.
